  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Tesla dual motor LR Defender

Me, I prefer solidly built swing axles at all four corners. IFS and IRS do not need to be a compromise to offroading and in my opinion can increase ground clearance substantially by tucking diffs up in the frame. A rear diff hanging down is your max ground clearance with solid axles. However...

Engine bay??? Only if they adopt a range extender engine/generator combo, which I hope they would. Otherwise the frunk for practical reasons should be rear hinged and the entire "grill" area should open with hood for easy access to what is destined to be a storage area void of anything...

    Carburetor rebuilding service

Not to take away anyones livlihood but....,.......Rebuilding a carb is a relatively simple task as I have done multiple times over many decades. Save yourself a little money and buy the same kit from NAPA or OREILLY or ebay that they would use. And learn a usable skill. It is just replacement of...

    Thoughts about an EV off-roader?

Mazda promotes their CX-50 as "off road ready" out of the box. Anyone can promote off road. Shoot, when we got our first BMW X4 in 2020 it came with an offer to drive their test track (with a company vehicle ) to explore the off road capabilities of it. My Bronco is off road ready but has never...

    Scout Design Ideas

Since the (obvious to me) plan might be a separate pickup on extended chassis, similar to how Gladiator and Ineos Quartermaster are longer wheelbase than the SUV they are derived from then it foes not make much sense to have a Scout SUV that converts to a pickup as did the 80/800

Loved the reference to Scout being the first SUV. In the same decade the Barracuda was the first "pony" car, beating Mustang to market

I am all in on the concept of on board generator for range extension. You could drive to the off road trails on gasoline and then drive your 200 miles of off road on all electric, switch to gas using the Jerry cans you take along to get back to civilization and charging stations. The Ineos...

    Thoughts about an EV off-roader?

Still early enough in development that Scout could learn from Ineos (and Ram) who just released concept of tge Fusilier, smaller than the Grenadier but on a full battery skateboard with IFS and presumably also IRS) and rack and pinion steering. Judging from being up close and personal to my...

    Scout Design Team Feedback V1

Out on a limb here but take off the V6 and the generator which together must weigh over 500#, plus the extra volumetric room under the hood. (2025 RAM) and replace with extra batteries, how far could range be extended in that scenario? And we talked, I think, about having an extra extended...

    Scout Design Team Feedback V1

690 mile range but you are going to be running a standard ICE Pentastar V6 to do so for 2/3 of those miles.

Need it be? Practically beats pretty by 5 letters.

Not sure about the all electric I prefer gasoline

If VW wanted a "new" ICE offroad vehicle they could have done so on the cheap by partnering with Ford as they have for their not'sold-in-USA Ranger based pickup Amorak.

Realistic EV Range Degradation and Prediction?

Range and recovery are tge two biggest factors even in normal temperatures. How many kW does an average EV use over its anticipated range and is there any situation where an on-board generator (even hydrogen powered) could keep up with the power consumption of the EV driveline? It's just a wild...

    Things to Avoid

I believe a few years before that, when I was shuffling IBM cards to create a calendar I was impressed by those that could sit at a terminal in the nascent computer lab at PSU who could, without notes, type in commands with results and nary a card in sight. I was still learning Fortran 4 with...

What would Jamie and Chris like to see in a Launch Edition?

My suggestion, other than guaranteeing an order spot for we forum supporters.....is please do not call it First Edition. Ford couldn't build all of their "First" Broncos until year 2. In my book First means First and therefore should be the actual first off the line. So Launch Edition, Roots...

And yes, radical in that since I was little when they came out I wanted a Corvair Rampside

    Frunk Focus

Point somewhat taken as all minivans currently available provide a crush zone with a small engine bay. But hear me out as to the use of the frunk. Add one 500# battery in the frunk, for balance add an additional 500# battery in the bed and other than you are carrying around an extra 1000# you...
