  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    MAX RANGE

I vote for minimum 300 mile range in the entry level. 450 upgraded with extra battery filling engine bay and 600 with a smallish genset under the hood. Fellow German company Magna Steyr is working on this for other companies

    Seating thoughts

Keep in mind every minute of seat ( and steering wheel) heat reduces how far you can travel before recharging. Even just cabin heat is a tradeoff. Don't even think about AC. For max range you need to run with zero accessories.

    Body style

There is nothing engineering or package wise that precludes an extended range version like Ineos is coming put with their Gusilier and even the 2025 Ram. An on board small displacement (RAM went overboard by retaining their Pentastar V6 of almost 4 litres) ICze running only a generator that...

    Truck version

A truck version could be a home run. Competition is really only a few. Gladiator, Ridgeline, Santa Cruz, Ranger, and of course the highly anticipated Ineos Quartermaster is unfortunately slapped with the Chicken Tax and starting price of $94,500 is about 20k higher than the station wagon. I...

    Honda Ridgeline 2 way tailgate

Hondas are designed in a RHD country

    Honda Ridgeline 2 way tailgate

Only "new" to Honda. Dual action station wagon tailgates were around 50 years ago. I do like the idea however

    Is it a Scout?

Absolutely a Bronco. Notice the ill-fitting door

    Dealerships Are Dying

And if you Kubota breaks it is far easier to work on and separate into parts than a Landini or a green Yanmar. I worked on them all. The local Maserati dealer is an hour and a half away but they bring a loaner when they pick up your vehicle for service. Their shop rate and parts cost is high...

    Why Scout?

If that were the case (less carbon leading to engine failure due to reduced lubrication) then engines running Full synthetic oils would be dropping like flies. And if you think carbon buildup on exhaust valves is a good thing you've never had a case of burned valves.

    Why Scout?

As a side note: Diesel engines themselves should not be banned but at worst the ubiquitous fuel being sold today. The original Diesel engines were designed to run on peanut or other renewable vegetable oils. It was JD Rockefeller's Standard Oil who led the promotion of excess product from...

    Why Scout?

VW could have more easily just introduced a Type (insert any "thing" but 181) called it a VW and that's that. However building on arguably (or not) the legacy of the first consumer SUV from the same company oft credited with first extended cab pickup (Travelette) albeit with only 3 doors makes...

    Dealerships Are Dying

Where do you get your Rivian warranty performed if they have no physical dealerships? Okay they must have some type of facilities within 4-5 hours of each purchaser and unless you accepted delivery with road grime from transport, someone has to detail and do final prep including, in my state...

    Dealerships Are Dying

Every IHC tractor dealer took delivery of a Scout 80, in pickup livery. I cannot recall clearly ( as I was 10) if our Scout was ordered and delivered through the local tractor store or from the big truck store. But finding a gaggle of existing dealers willing to sell and service an all electric...

    Dealerships Are Dying

While the idea of dealing factory direct...and even collecting our Scout's at the factory for those of us within a 12 hour drive( it will unfortunately due to range and recharge probably twice as long to return home) the issue of delivery prep and warranty service come to mind. Inros did not...

    Scout Color Poll #1

They could start with these https://images.app.goo.gl/KmMAQ1fRD1wQnxZi6 and not go wrong. We had a late 50s early 60s IHC pickup whose color was labeled Desert Sand but we a called it pink. Have never found the corresponding color chip

    Duck, Duck......Scout?

I have the Bronco "wave" factory built into the softtop side windows which from an engineering standpoint were designed and built wrong. A town mountie needs to pull over the daughter with the viewing obstructions on her dash. Just like fuzzy dice and even graduation tassels and odor eaters...

    Prices dropping on EVs

Discussed before but never with such duscounts With a very well equipped Fikar Ocean now selling for under $40k (they will be out of business before first ev Scout rolls off factory floor) and somewhere around $12k discountbon Mach E (Ford not going anywhere) and BYD selling EVs for equivalent...

The Road to Scout Production - All the latest updates in one place...

Whoa Flash! Not that a Bentley is any slouch of an SUV but the price point of one outweighs the differences between it and say a Maserati or even a Jaguar or Land Rover. The Scout 80 was not developed with the Rolls Royce owner in mind. We can't afford another $150,000 SUV no matter how great...

If the top doesnt come off.....

If the top comes off but the windshield don't fold down you have a Bronco

    1904 Carburetor

Check one of the forum sites that specializes in Scout's. The problem you are probably running into is the basic 1904vwas produced for a number of applications and manifolds, several Ford's among them and what is sling for $100 on ebay. Leaking out the vent to me means an out of adjustment...
