  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Exterior trim

For door handles and mirrors, I'm fine with basic black, but I do NOT want them to be molded/textured plastic. I want something easily paintable to customize as I see fit. I have no idea what Scout will do for proximity sensors/door handles to allow for unlocking, but hopefully it doesn't...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Amen. One of my biggest concerns with buying a vehicle is resale value, otherwise you're just throwing money away. Scout is a BIG gamble for me, not knowing how that will turn out. Hopefully they build a simple, reliable vehicle that will end up in the realm of the 4Runner or Wrangler for...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

We all want Scout to be successful and I think it makes sense to run the production line as simply as possible initially until everybody knows what they're doing and quality control is within acceptable parameters. It makes sense to me to produce the model with the most demand first so money...

    Harvester Capless Fuel Fill Door

Please do NOT make the Scout capless. These are vehicles designed to go off road, and those fuel filler doors can often get filled with muck and more, especially in mud or water crossings. If I want to be off-grid for awhile camping, the capless designs don't work well with gas cans and the...

Meanwhile, some are trying to close the loophole that allows such three-wheeled creations: https://www.autoblog.com/news/new-congress-bill-could-change-three-wheelers-legal-definition

I didn't know Lincoln was still around... :ROFLMAO:

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I've found the rednecks** to be the most friendly typically. Both in the south and the north! In my experience, there are more rednecks/good ol' boys in Maine and North/West NY than there are in NC. :ROFLMAO: **Listen to Hank Williams Jr. A Country Boy Can Survive for a more detailed definition.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I have the technology to make them work. :) (Admittedly not legally, but if that's where the world is...)

Harvester Battery Stage of Charge Question

I can see the aerodynamics of the truck bed being the biggest factor. Curious to see the end results.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Definitely applies to me, 80% a-hole, 20% tolerable! Really though, I'm pretty antisocial and find overly friendly neighbors off-putting, but we've got a lot of really good neighbors nonetheless. There are only three houses on my street and we're all the same way, valuing our privacy, but we...

    Scout Patents

Both links just show "unauthorized" for me. Any info?

Concern about the complexity and cost of repairs/maintenance for EREV

I'm of the opinion the EREV will be slightly cheaper than the BEV, but I don't expect a big cost difference between the two. 200 miles of additional range requires a lot more battery in a full-size vehicle and batteries are still $$$. One of the Scout employees said something to this effect...

    Dixxon partnership, & EV whirring

I support Darwin, let's remove the noise makers! There's something wrong in the world when the boss man's 5.0L V8 in his Lexus is quieter backing up than his wife's Rav4 hybrid. That's not a quiet V8 by any means, but it sounds so much better than the spaceship. I read the noise requirements...

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

Definitely a spare carrier on the rear as I really don't want a vehicle without a full-size spare (getting hard to find nowadays). I've had a smaller frunk on a previous vehicle and it was good for the emergency stuff, but not useful enough for anything day-to-day. If the Scout frunk stays...

Scout Traveler:: Cabin Entry Height Measurement by Wheel/Tire Package

Doing some quick scaling off their drawings, it looks like the floor height from ground to front door floor is in the 24" to 26" range with a 35" tire. Ground to rear cargo floor/tailgate on the Traveler looks to be in the 38"-39" range. Obviously not exact since some extrapolation is...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Right up your alley with your past, an FJ. Still the stock rear housing, longer shocks, adjustable control arms, Superflex rear springs, longer sway bar links (gotta keep the sway bar for how I drive on the street). Overall, I've got my shock valving, spring rates and everything dialed in how...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Lamborghini is supposed to be pretty independent from VW as well... I'm sure VW is putting some pressure on Scout since they're still bankrolling the whole thing. Hopefully this doesn't turn into anything for all you BEV holders, but I'd be a little worried.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

I'm always worried I'm gonna drop one of my rear coils at full droop on my Toyota. During static droop testing, I can easily pop them out by hand. I hadn't really considered progressive-rate springs until reading your post. They're usually a little longer for the same amount of lift in my...

    Scout Gift "Unboxed"

If you've got the equipment sitting in your office, it's a no-brainer to try at the very least!
