  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What do you all do? Curious about Scout buyers occupations, or former occupations.

I started life as a marine engineer. Pretty much no one looks at me and can picture me changing a cylinder head on a 50,000 hp diesel engine, lol. I’m liking my SQL and PowerQuery, lol. Weirdly, both careers have similarities though. You’re problem solving. Work methodically, logically, pay...

    Scout Deal Breakers

I thought I’d need a sunshade when I was still in Texas with an all glass roof. If it comes with a good tint, like mine had, sunshade not needed. I didn’t use it even once.

    Scout Deal Breakers

Aftermarket parts usually do void warranties. Why would an OEM carry the water for another manufacturer’s product? A lot of Jeeps get lifts without the owner investing in drive shaft and steering upgrades…more or less destroying OEM components either from angles or not beefy enough for the...

    Slate Truck Methodology

Agree 100%. I guess I look at Tesla and Rivian for some perspective. Tesla started out making $120K S and X and couldn’t sell enough to make a profit. Billions and billions in the red. Once the 3 came out, $50-$60K at the time, 300m range, profitability was nearly instantaneous because the...

    Slate Truck Methodology

Not everyone is mechanically inclined. I was a marine engineer so, yeah, I could install airbags myself. Do I want to? Not really. Am I glad safety equipment is mandatory? Yes I am. Overall it contributes to lower insurance costs to not pay out for a bunch of deaths, as well as it’s awfully...

Technically I’m a cost analyst for a large manufacturing company but more than half my time is spent as a business analyst wrangling data into submission and automating repetitive tasks.

    Hey Lady Scouts!!

Typically you’d set it to charge to 80% and leave it plugged in. If a big storm is coming I’ll charge to 100% just in case power is lost for awhile.

    Hey Lady Scouts!!

My first two years here I drove 80 miles each way…in one of the coldest winters they’d had in a few years. At work it sat outside. Frequently in cold places there are electrical posts for plugging in engine block heaters…you can use those if they’re available. A friends car was parked outside...

    Hey Lady Scouts!!

Hi! I’ve had EVs for seven years, in Houston and for the last four years in North Dakota. Super hot and super cold, lol. I can answer any cold weather questions, or long trip questions. I’ve got close to 200,000 EV miles. I love seeing everyone’s puppy photos:)

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Perfectly fine as long as cables are in good condition. Teslas, at least, and assuming every other EV is the same, protect themselves from silly humans. Car won’t charge if not fully plugged in, cords are too hot (shorts, etc), and battery has a warming circuit to keep itself in good shape.

You get used to it, know all the tricks, etc.

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

My only experience is with Tesla (I’m in North Dakota) but they have a warming circuit that will keep battery above a certain temp. This is different from pre conditioning. The defrost defrosts around the frameless windows, and the wipers. I’ve turned it on as plane landing post blizzard and my...

How do you plan to kit out your interior?

I was talking about NACS. While I’ve never bent or broken mine it does have a delicate little pin on the car side that folks have bent and broken… I guess I’m not a whack the charger port door kind of gal, lol, I’d worry about the charge port motor getting damaged constantly trying to open a...

Accent colors: roofs, mirror caps, tow hooks, etc, etc.

Aw, thank you…this is how I found PJ…

I’m hoping the designer will do a great job with Aquamarine…I just don’t have the skills to put color stuff together. Though I like the idea of retro stripes. When I rebuilt a 1973 CJ5 I found some NOS stripes…I loved the look.

Snow traction with lighter front end?

North Dakota here. Originally had a RWD Model 3. Last couple years with an AWD Model S. Both have been phenomenal. The battery adds low, centered body weight. Good tires are a key.

    Self-driving integration with Open Pilot.

Autosteer is really nice. It’s weird how much energy staying between the lines takes.

    Self-driving integration with Open Pilot.

Hi, current thought is that Scout will have adaptive cruise and auto steer but not what Tesla advertises as “FSD”. I don’t know if you’ve ever driven with FSD but reality is underwhelming…hands stay on yoke, interior camera tracks eyes (and is a PITA about you looking at center console). The...

Just for fun…Have you named your Scout already?

My current one is Lucy. This might be weird but I don’t force a name on a car. Within a couple of weeks the car lets me know what its name is. I’m super excited to see what my Scout decides!
