  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

We're definitely getting there, some places faster than others. Here in California I'd say we're probably there unless you're in some very random remote part of the state where there aren't many services anyways, gas stations or otherwise. Case in point, if you did an SF-LA drive, this would be...

Stainless no, but yes to a matte silver. Mercedes has a matte silver color called "Designo Iridium Silver Magno" which is incredible in person. It essentially turns the car into a sculpture and highlights all the curves/creases/cuts of the bodywork. It's super hard to photograph properly but...

Forgot to mention, yesterday Waymo announced they've expanded coverage area to cover basically the whole peninsula east of 280.

Nice. Yeah I love seeing all the prototypes driving around and these days it's a ton of AV companies testing their stuff. Some are badged like Nuro, Zoox, Wayve, Mercedes, etc., and some aren't like the unmarked Rav4 I saw this morning with a lidar and some kind of blade mounted to it's roof...

As the Silicon Valley resident here, between Rivian's office in Palo Alto, VW's office in Belmont, Audi's office in San Jose, and Scout's "office" in Fremont that is likely TBD, I have no doubt I have no doubt I'll be seeing these prototypes next year and will make sure to report back.

According to a German VW Group engineer I know who works at the Palo Alto office (and by that I mean Rivian's office in Palo Alto where all this is happening), VW has at least one VW, Audi, Porsche, Scout, and (I believe) Lamborghini model being worked on there. Brands like Seat and Skoda do not...

IMO this isn't about media lying to us, it's about media desperate for clicks. Everything has to be described in the strongest possible terms to create shock and get people engaged. Only later in the article do you realize they're just crying wolf. Example: I'm in the SF Bay Area where local...

Makes sense given it's an hour and a half from the factory and CLT is a major US airport with plenty of flights to Germany. The only question I have is whether they'll maintain the office in Tysons for the C suite (and 15m from VW and Audi corp offices) or will everyone move down to Charlotte?

Why have a Cabana roof when you can have no roof?

A happy little accident, I was going for a different Scout vehicle, didn't request green, but hey I like the color and it's a nice picture so posting it.

Too pragmatic for Elon's likes I'm afraid. It has to be a big dazzly semi. Meanwhile European and Chinese manufacturers are churning out thousands of normal looking electric trucks by the thousands.

It's sad how delayed they've been at bringing the Semi to market because it's such a no brainer for the transportation industry. Meanwhile another no brainer solution has popped up in the form of electrifying and motorizing the trailers themselves. Pull the trailer with a diesel and you get...

This is another color I tried a while back and was really happy with the results. In the same way PBY looks good in California, this would look good in desert climates. Let's see how this looks in Santa Fe.

Counter point: Because it will be a draw for a lot of people the odds of Scout actually doing this go up because they can't afford to offer colors nobody wants. Also, getting a knowing waive or thumbs up from a fellow PBYer every now and then isn't a bad thing either.

Posting for comparison sake. Here's @Jamie@ScoutMotors 's yellow Scout from early itt. And PBY from @cyure Very similar but I prefer the slightly more mellow look of PBY, especially because that's a lot of real estate to look at and that's a very important nuance. If it's too much yellow it's...

I have to say, out here in California that PBY color seems like a natural fit.

Because we're talking light yellow colors, I'll mention the original color to my Porsche 356 was "Champagne Yellow." Since well before my ownership it's been painted dark red, but if I ever wanted it 100% original it would look like the car below. Overall a very pretty color and emblematic of...
