  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

So two years ago Rivian sent reservation holders a survey on what configuration they'd most likely buy. Below were the options and given RJ said Launch Edition will be top of the bell curve of what people will order, likely in part due to survey results, and that we're expecting Launch Edition...

Absolutely, buying a soon-bunk (in the US) J1772/CCS car in 2028+ makes no sense. Even if that wasn't the case, having access to the Tesla Supercharger network alone is enough reason to want it. At least here in California, it's a no brainer...

Plays exactly into what VW design boss Andy Mindt was saying two years ago.. How does the cost of the ID 2all interior work out compared with an existing car with its simplified design but higher-quality materials? “[The cost] might stay the same but we up the quality as you save costs with...

Both strategies can exist. They learned that BEV isn't the right fit for large truck customers so they've pivoted towards EREV. Meanwhile they're still a year or two away from debuting a new line of smaller BEVs, including a pickup, on their Universal EV Platform.

In almost every interview I've seen of RJ, the reporter tries baiting him into a political question and he simply doesn't bite. Keogh is similar. And that's the way it should be.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Am I the only one who thinks every post from tomgillotti has come straight from ChatGPT? Every post is either one human-written sentence then a cut/paste from ChatGPT for the rest or the entire reply is ChatGPT. Is nobody else seeing this?

    FB find of the day

I'm hopeful all the conversations we've had on colors have pushed the needle in favor of offering decent choices. Fingers crossed.

    FB find of the day

Yeah, Rivian offers up to 10 colors on R1S but that includes black/white/grey/silver and a few variations of said colors. Would prefer to see your 4 crowd pleasers then 6 interesting colors.

    I support this.

IMO Scout is in a prime position to use colors as a differentiator. Rivian's palette is mostly drab greyscale stuff and IMO customers are absolutely ready for a change.

Cybertruck doesn't compete with Scout (in any meaningful way) for four reasons. Completely different ethos. Scout is a modern EV with classic looks, traditional UX, and semi-blue collar vibe of Carhartt clothing. Pretty much the opposite of what Cybertruck is going for, hard to imagine someone...

School districts, universities, counties, municipalities, utilities, auxiliary vehicles for first responders, etc. all would be perfect. They don't cover a lot of daily mileage, they don't need any creature comforts other than AC, going EV would eliminate a lot of maintenance/fuel spend, and of...

You're totally right but I'm pretty sure that was the goal from the very beginning. Every detail about this vehicle seems perfectly suited for fleet sales. Also let's not forget Slate continues to show off their cars wrapped in various fictious businesses, some with humor, but still highlighting...

Concern about the complexity and cost of repairs/maintenance for EREV

I had to run this through ChatGPT because there's a lot to unpack and it's actually game changing. First this quote "if the Scout Harvester EREV is sold as a new, road-legal passenger vehicle in any CARB state (CA, WA, OR, NY, etc.), Scout essentially has no option but to certify it as a TZEV...

Fair point and screw those guys. That said, dealers have stopped marking them up for quite some time now yet cars are still sitting on lots unsold with main complaints being it's too expensive and/or no point in owning a van if you can't road trip it due to small range.
