  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Yeah Scout will make other models in the future including a smaller R2 equivalent (and hopefully an equivalent truck that would be sweet). Just can't do everything at once.

    Website updates

Makes me think about how I'm a short drive away from this where could see parts or all of Scout right now if I only had the connections and a hefty NDA signed.

You and me both brother. Hell, once I tell my wife about those door handles it's game over man. On a related note, one thing that attracted me to Scout was the lack of Tesla-chasing bullshit like electronic door handles. As time goes on this is proving a very wise move.

It's this kind of hubris that kills people. Wassym basically said it's not a problem because they figured out a way to power the doors from either batteries. Job done! Ok what happens if.. The actuator doesn't work due to burned out motor/gear strips/debris/ice/etc.? Control path failure due to...

Wow. I posted my frustration and deal breaker status of those door handles in that thread yesterday. I'm a 2yr reservation holder not just some internet commenter, same with most others in that thread. Quick recap. If the button doesn't work you have to reach down low on the door card, remove a...

Yeah the Porsche is probably one of the easiest vehicles you could tow given it's like 2K lbs, smaller than a mini cooper, and very aerodynamic. The Bus is ~2400lbs and is shaped like, well, a Bus so yeah higher drag. According to U-Haul those auto hauler trailers are 2200lbs empty so I'm...

What about Traveler? My biggest towing needs would be this hauling either one of these Trailer isn't particularly heavy nor these vehicles so I'm hoping it shouldn't be a problem?

Yeah Ford has Azure Gray and Area 51 that are within that vein same with Toyota's Cavalry Blue which has been out for awhile now on various vehicles. Overall these kinds of colors have been proven in the market enough and offer the right kind of retro vibes that I'd be surprised if Scout didn't...

I think this blue looks good for those who want to stand out, but I'm like you and more partial to Rivian Blue because it reminds me of a Porsche 356 color called Oslo Blue. RJ grew up restoring 356's so I have a theory Rivian Blue was directly inspired by the Porsche color.

IMO the R2D2 wrap is previewing future available colors. People have spotted one with what looks like Canyon Red highlights, Compass Yellow, and here this bright blue color. Back at the San Jose reveal on 04/24 I talked to Rivian folks about colors. At the time they expected a somewhat...

I could easily see a situation where EREV owners simply remove the gas engine/accessories, upgrade the battery pack with extra modules (since gas tank sits where those modules would have been in BEV form), do a software update, and drive away in a full on BEV. This would more likely be a cottage...

Help me decide BEV or EREV

That's the funny thing about many of us in these forums at this point in time. We all presumably put down a reservation, we're all here making posts, wish lists, speculations, GenAI pics, debates, chit chat, etc., about Scout with great enthusiasm knowing that when the time comes to actually...

Yeah I put down for a reservation the day I saw it at the San Jose reveal back in...checks internet...wow, April of 2024. The lease on our ID.4 comes up in February of next year and while it's still top of list, I'm seeing cracks forming in that decision since needs, budgets, competitors both on...

Help me decide BEV or EREV

So dang accurate but yeah, since we're 2-3 years out that's all we've got at this point. I will say I flipped my reservation from Harvester back to BEV because I realized, in California, I have all the chargers I could need in 2026 then you have 3 more years of maturity to the network. If I...

    Dark Mode for the Forums!

Everything I do is in dark mode except the Scout Forums which means every time I visit here feels like It would be amazing if we could have an optional dark mode. I'm sure others feel the same way.

By default, lowering your value prop keeping all other variables the same, especially on an ageing product line, should result in a drop in sales. The only way they come out ahead is if everyone else starts doing the same thing...think American Airlines being the first to charge baggage fees now...

Using an EV for backup power in case of power outage

This is some really good info thanks guys. Rest assured however it's installed I will be using a professional electrician and not doing it myself! Also I would imagine by the time we get around to doing this in a couple of years (once we have a vehicle that supports this), there will be more...
