  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

I think my dog will be mad at me if I try to put her in the frunk

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

The spare tire definitely looks the best, no doubt. But for practical purposes, I want it bare. For starters, using the auto-tailgate open is very handy very frequently. And on top of that, even when I'm not using the auto-tailgate button, I still don't want to have to swing it open anytime I'm...

Where would you like to see the Traveler and Terra this year?

I'm just hoping that they go back to the IH Scout Nationals again this year. I'm a stone's throw from Springfield but didn't even know this car existed last June.

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

I think "with the spare" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there lol. Without the spare, it's about 10" shorter than the R1S. I'm not sure what the logic would be to include the size of the spare when determining class of vehicle. You could throw a hitch-mounted spare on the R1S and make it much...

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

All entirely fair. I definitely don't begrudge anyone who buys a car more emotionally than I do (or for really any reason; it's their money). There will always be emotion in a purchase of that size, even for people like me and your wife, I just try my best to minimize it. Part of the issue with...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I'd be very surprised if there was lidar on the Scouts. Rivian hopes to achieve level 4, driverless tech, which is why they're adding lidar. Waymo, for example, extensively uses lidar. And Jamie said that they are only planning to do level 2+. So lidar would be a pretty unnecessary expense.

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

As one of only two current "yes" votes, I would like to offer some countervailing thoughts. And this ended up much longer than I planned.. I understand everyone here is inherently enthusiastic about the car, and I am too, but when it comes time to spend $60k on a car, I will be putting my...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I may be in the minority, but I think the purple on Rivian looks great! I'd definitely consider it. But I also just like the inclusion of some exciting/bold colors besides just the neutrals, blue, and sometimes red.

    Google Gemini AI Scout Images

Lol the Traveler is 76" tall, so this is a family of giants apparently

Breaking down the EV battery hype.

Good article. I'm very skeptical of wireless charging for vehicles even though it sounds great. The nature of wireless charging means it's rather inefficient. And that's not a big deal when you're charging a small cell phone battery, but with the amount you need to charge a car, there ends up...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Call me crazy, but outside of a few use cases, I think most people should be on the BEV bandwagon once they really think about it. EREV really sounded great to me when I first heard about it, but the more I thought about it, the more I don't feel like I need it. It's likely going to be more...

Scout Traveler Debuts in New Pacific Mist Color

    Had no idea. Thanks!

Scout Traveler Debuts in New Pacific Mist Color

Maybe a stupid question... but how did they get the Traveler up on the sidewalk? Don't they trailer it everywhere, which I assume means it doesn't drive? But Jamie's pics have it first parked on the street, but then up on the sidewalk under the cover. Is the concept vehicle actually drivable or...

Scout Traveler Debuts in New Pacific Mist Color

I think I like the red-orange it was before better but hard to deny how beautiful pacific mist is! Would look picturesque parked on a beach somewhere..
