  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Ability to Fit a Snowplow

Bike Racks do the same thing. Especially annoying when you're backing up with a rack on there and it prevents you from even moving :/.

    Carplay unconfirmed?!

Thanks. I'm allergic to social media, and wouldn't ever see this. Weird that they changed the public information on the website, but at least its cleared up by their team elsewhere.

    Carplay unconfirmed?!

Ooof, that would be a huge bummer. All I've heard repeatedly was that they would include it. But, the language has clearly changed for some reason. I severely hope that this is not a result of their increased collaboration with Rivian (Lack of carplay support, and their war on physical...

You've got space for days!. I believe I have the smallest 3 car garage in existence. I've got about 8inches from the edge of the garage door, to the drywall in the garage, on each side, and like barely 10ft ceilings. Still better than a small 2 car, but a 2 car garage with 2-4ft on the sides...

I'd hope their theoretical future smaller SUV would be narrower. I don't wheel really anymore, but slot canyons are difficult on anything full size, as you're just sooooo wide. I also presume the Traveler/Tera share the C pillar forward, for simple cost reasons. But for the Traveler, it does...

Ah, yeah, I think you're right. I was sort of close... but just on the wrong decade :D. OOF. Whatever it was, my Nephew had never driven anything without one, and didn't think he could backup without one. It was embarrasing. Oh, agreed. If its an option, make it an option. As a side note...

IMO, The charge port locking the charger to the vehicle while the vehicle is locked, is not really related to "stealing" the gas" scenario from the past. Its to prevent people from unplugging the charger while you're charging, and/or stealing your charger (if you're charging from an L1/L2 where...

10000% agree. I'm amazed that they went with the pull cord again. As you said, thats a huge issue, particularly with kids in the backseat. And there has been a lot of talk in the press about electric door handles in general lately (Chinas new law for instance). That was one of the things i...

Scout Concepts At LA Auto Show, November 21-30, 2025

I was thinking about this too, but so far I’ve not been able to figure out a way to do this quite yet. At least not in a way that would fit in the carrier as well as the backpack quite yet. There might be more options if the outer shell of the tire carrier was removable. There are three general...

I have no issues with the idea of a wheel, or haptics. But I do have issues with context aware controls for things that shouldn't need it. The main difference between driving, and using a computer/playing a videogame. When using a computer/playing a videogame, I'm already looking at the control...

Scout Concepts At LA Auto Show, November 21-30, 2025

Seriously. Griddles/stoves, various lifts (kayak lift???), inflators, shop style light stands (can you imagine backing up to a field at dusk to play sportsball with your friends/kids team sport, telescoping a 3 light boom up into the air 10 ft, and turning on the stadium lights to finish...

100000% agree. I love most of the rest of it , and rivians in general (although, not the "they're super expensive to repair" bit). Funny enough, the one review I've read so far, was about how the haptic scroll wheels didn't work for the reviewer as of their first experience with them (I think...

    Accelleration

I sure wish my first house cost that much :/. Sadly, that is not the case. It cost... more than that. Although I'm glad to no longer be on an hourly rate.

Maybe I dodged a bullet, because the dealers I called around to here were definitely not as cool as that. Which again reenforces how much I dislike dealers. There are too many tares in that wheat.

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

Oh, true. I didn't even think about public L2 charging, as I've never used it. But you're right, there are some around that are free (I think one of the local grocery stores has one thats free for 2hrs). And I'm sure many others are pretty cheap. I should have said L3 DCFC. AFAIK, the local...

Correct. And not just for the fun cars. Even the Mundane ones have the same experience. When we were looking at 3 row SUV's before we got the Ioniq 9, we considered the Grand Highlander Hybrid XLE (the cheapest/fuel efficient one). Calling around to dealerships they said they best they could...

    Regenerative braking

Yep. On both points. Although, not that there is anything objectively wrong with either mimicking a gas cars driving dynamics (the Ioniq 5 N seems to get good reviews from that perspective), or catering to muscle memory (again gas cars, but also why we haven't changed from QWERTY keyboards to...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

Oh, I'm definitely worried about the efficiency, don't get me wrong. This is not going to be near as cheap to drive as a Chevy Bolt or something like that. The physics just don't work. I think it is not very likely that we will see 350 miles of EV range/150 miles of EV range for the harvester...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

The ID Buzz has 234 miles of range. My Ioniq 9 has 320 miles of range, and the RWD base trim is 335 miles. I guess I was wrong on the msrp. They are very close ($59k for the buzz and $60k for the Ioniq 9). Except when I was considering them the ID buzz didn’t qualify for the tax credit...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

The other issue with the buzz, was its lackluster range for said price. It has a solid 100 miles less range than my Hyundai, but msrp was like $5-10k higher at least. It should have been like $10-20k lower in price at the range it had. Instead its effective price was $20-30k higher for ages...
