  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Compared to the current other 3 row BEV offerings, IMO, the Ioniq 9 is head and shoulders better. The EV9 is based on the same platform, but is enough smaller that its noticeable, and... feels like it was designed by people that don't understand how families use vehicles. The seats were...

New Scout Video: Forging the Future - The Sound Of Scout

If you'd asked me earlier today if Jelly Roll was 1) a sort of gross pastry, or 2) a country singer, or 3) both of the above, I'd have definitely only said 1. Did not even know that Jelly Roll was apparently a musician. Yeah, there could be a lot there. Thunderstorms, PNW style rain in the...

    R2 Launch Watch

The price/value of the R2, isn't bad actually, at least from the MSRP perspective. The charging speeds are a bit on the slow side though (29min), but everything else seems pretty good. That said, its not competing with MSRP vehicles. This is landing in a field of pretty heavy discounts. I know...

Welcome to the club! The XRT is pretty cool. I got my EV in September. And while I wouldn't "wish" high gas prices on anyone/anywhere like this, the fact that its making the Ioniq 9 a better purchase (by making the competing gas/hybrid vehicles we were considering instead have a higher cost of...

New Scout Video: Forging the Future - The Sound Of Scout

Lots of interesting stuff in there, thanks for posting. From what I could hear of the "vehicle moving sound" (The AVAS: Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System), I thought it sounded good. I wish I could have heard it better, but understand why its obfuscated. I also liked the recording of all the...

    R2 Launch Watch

Its really common practice for new vehicles to be initially produced in only their higher trims. They have pent up demand for something (presumably from those passionate about it), who will usually be more likely to accept higher prices to get what they want "now". And also, at the beginning of...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Oh, I'd seen they were dropping it, but wasn't aware of the calibration issue. But it is a bit of a bummer, as I had actually somewhat considered an R1S for a while, and the Standard was going to be what I was going to go with, as it was the only one even sort of close to the price point I...

    R2 Launch Watch

On paper, that sounds high to me. But it turns out thats right in the range of the Model Y, which is a similar size (188in IIRC?). Personally, I really like Rivian vehicles. I just hate their approach to buttons, and the user interface. Also, the relative pricing of the launch edition and the...

Battery only or harvester.. starting to rethink it.

Yep! In fact, its almost double the weight of a Lotus Elise, and at least 500lbs or so heavier than a Miata. And in fact, its only 800-1000lbs or so heavier than my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Batteries are HEAVY.

Battery only or harvester.. starting to rethink it.

AFAIK, it isn't really that easy to just "take the battery" from one EV, and put it in another. Many of the times, the batteries are designed/configured in a way to be either structural to the frame/stiffness of the vehicle, or packaged in/around the frame/unibody. So you can't just "swap a...

Is the EREV going to be a flop?

I'm so sorry to hear that, but also, I love that you feel brave/comfortable enough to step in and say this. I can't say anything that would wouldn't sound like pandering, other than saying, that I'm also not a huge fan of marketing that is super on the edge there. Especially not from an...

Battery only or harvester.. starting to rethink it.

I will say, as an owner of a 320mile rated EV, range around town/day to day local use, range is almost never even thought of. As almost any EV these days, will have enough range for normal day to day use on a 80-100% charge, unless your needs are extensive (200 miles or more, especially if it is...

Battery only or harvester.. starting to rethink it.

There are a fair number of places reviewing EV's like that. https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/hybrids-evs/real-world-ev-range-tests-models-that-beat-epa-estimates-a1103288135/ https://outofspecstudios.com/70-mph-range The more premium brands seem to do quite well. BMW, Mercedes...

Battery only or harvester.. starting to rethink it.

FWIW, I also worry about the battery pack size, at least in the terms of actual useable range on the highway. My Ioniq 9 has a 110kwh gross/107kwh useable battery pack size. And its EPA range rating is 320 miles. Now 120-130kwh is a fair bit larger (up to 18%). But The ioniq 9 seems like it...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

My parents cabins feature this alarm clock as well :D. Also, one time in high school, I went to go camping with a buddy, and the camping areas we went to were all full (I know we hit Christopher creek campground up past Payson, but can't remember the others we went to). But it was at this point...

    Dixxon partnership, & EV whirring

I'd be totally onboard with that. I've at points been very into computer overclocking (long story). And for one of my earliest PC's, I changed the startup sound to a V8 with a hot cam starting up :D. Lots of other acceptable sounds out there too. Even something like thunder/lightning, or a...

    Dixxon partnership, & EV whirring

TBH, I don't mind the angel noises while driving at low speeds. Maybe if it was just my car doing it, but its been a law for a while, so I sort of don't mind it (although like Strider says, it makes sense for it to be for ALL vehicles, just not any that can move under electric power only). But...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

I can't imagine a "breathing down your neck" feature would be very popular? Well. Unless it was a halloween update. And one you could turn on for a different seat without them knowing. Then maybe it would be very popular, to prank your significant other/children/co-worker with creepy breathing...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

100% agree. My raise last year was also tiny. I had some buddies at work get < 1%. I was just over 1%. And the year before we got 0% (for everyone). Its not been "awesome" lately. But we're fortunate, I feel bad for those worse off, as these fuel prices have a bigger impact on them. The only...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Our prices here have jumped locally as well. Around Valentine’s Day it was around $3.79 or so. On Friday it was $4.39, and today it was $4.49. And I see articles saying barrels of crude could go up to $150. Which if true, would definitely continue to go up. Wonder if we’ll see it go up to...
