  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    All terrain tires

Another vote for running Nokians in the snow belt! I've gone with their ATs in between those from Hankook, General, and BFG. The latest version--the Outpost--is probably the best AT I've ever run. But a BEV/EREV is a horse of another color. So I'll keep an open mind toward whatever comes with...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Same here. As I just got a solar array installed (to capture the expiring federal credit). 🍻

Concern about the complexity and cost of repairs/maintenance for EREV

I may be wrong, but I think an under bed/floor position is going to be a little bit lower to the ground than a traditional engine mount under the hood. So to achieve any decent water fording depth, there's going to have to be a lot of cowling and venting to higher spots (above the bed/floor) to...

Concern about the complexity and cost of repairs/maintenance for EREV

They've rationalized dropping the engine to replace a water pump (and other maintenance items) on the previous (v10) diesel in my Touareg.

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

    Great thoughts; thanks! 🍻

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

I hadn't thought of using a heat pump instead of liquid cooling for the Harvester's ICE. Given that later model (water-cooled) 911's seem to provide a good template in terms of thermal mgmt. Curious to hear your thoughts on how the two approaches compare...

November 2025 Scout Motors Production Center Update

I'm really curious if range-extending ICE's are subject to the exact same emissions requirements as those providing direct vehicle power. Has anyone done the detective work looking at previous EREVs (or other VAG owned/subsidiary gensets) here?...

What a Scout Traveler would replace

I've kept my 2010 VW Touareg TDI. It's now up to 301k miles. Last of the great Touaregs, as they say. Four corner height/ride adjustable air suspension. A foot of clearance and 2-1/2 ft of wading depth when needed. Low range transfer case with a locking center diff. Throw in the diesel torque...

Terra Full Size Spare (35") Mount

This! Every mounting solution has trade-offs. With under-chassis sometimes tough to access offroad. (Picture a flat on rocks or ruts.) Hitch mounting maintains bed (or interior) space. But I'll trade some bed space or integrate into a camper/tent config. 🍻

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

X2 on the adjustable air suspension! Have it on a 2010 Touareg which goes places no non-air one can go. It took a factory order to get the option but was well worth the money. As the stock clearance on the Cayenne/Touareg platform trades off-roading chops for on-road handling. With 35" tires...

Thanks! Happy to be part of the community, in the new year.

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

Terra Harvester. I've been spoiled with a ~600 mi range SUV (Touareg TDI). And hoping I've got a few more years of overlanding in me. Fingers crossed the product lives up to its promise (and legacy). 🍻
