  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

It's become my go-to recommendation for a used, low-cost vehicle. It's totally useable even without a home charger.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

My 78-yr-old aunt was interested in an EV but insisted that she needed a hybrid because it would be too difficult to charge. We convinced her to get a used Chevrolet Bolt EUV and if she hated it, she could sell it and get a hybrid. Every time we go for a drive now, she can't stop talking...

I think they had to stop a test because the temperatures became dangerously high when using only one cooling plate. But it may be my misunderstanding.

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

    Not often.

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

I believe somewhere on here it was said that the spare would only fit under on the BEV. The Harvester wouldn't be able to accommodate a spare underneath. I don't know if that's still the thinking.

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

    That's the one.

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

I thought I saw a CAD sketch of a cooler / fridge in the backpack location. I think it was on this forum somewhere. I'm not sure if it'll come to fruition.

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

Our nearest Costco is 3.5-4 hours round trip driving. When we do a Costco run, we take the Lightning. We bring a portable freezer and sometimes a second portable fridge, and if we have a big list of refrigerated products, we also bring a cooler or two. We fill the bed with goods and sometimes...

Scam. The CEO is the same one who last year announced “the most advanced ai ever” and it turned out to be vaporware. The claim of 400 Wh/kg is physically impossible for the chemistry claimed. And they didn’t even build their “5 kWh model” big enough to fit the required number of cells that sits...

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

Great question. I have no idea what they’re planning. I would bet it would be wrapped in plastic and sitting in the back seat when you picked up the vehicle and the tire would be on the carrier at the back of the vehicle.

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

I would probably order with the spare tire carrier and then remove it, install the tire underneath where it belongs, and run bare most of the time. When I did have the carrier on, it would likely carry the backpack instead of the tire. I don’t like that much weight hanging off the vehicle that...

Enclosed parking garages in China are getting overhead charging pods. No more hoping to find a space with a charging cable. Just park and order a charge pod to come to your parking space. https://electrek.co/2026/02/23/china-overhead-rail-ev-charging-robots-parking-garages/

    Spare Tire, Backpack, or Bald?

I haven’t seen it, so I don’t know for certain. In my experience, that kind of fiddly extra step is something that I always look for ways to remove. I’m afraid the first generation won’t allow it to be removed, but I’d bet the second generation doesn’t have it. Three major steps to get into the...

My partner experienced something similar. Her Galaxie 500 carb flooded and when she finally got it started, it backfired and spread gasoline and flames all over the air filter. She walked into the grocery store, calmly asked for a fire extinguisher, and put out the fire, pried the melted air...

    Harvester

You will want to NOT charge. Unless you can find a free Level 2 charger wherever you go in Chicago, it’ll almost certainly be cheaper to charge at home.

Scout Traveler:: On-Road Wheel and Tire Package(s)

There’s an almost certainty that the longest range option will be with AS, EV-specific, low-rolling resistance tires. As soon as you add ATs or other wheels, the EPA range will drop. And the price will increase.
