  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

I was going to complain and then realized that despite checking the box for Harvester I don’t fall under this because I do plan to plug it in. I plan on plugging it in where my current EV is plugged in, and likely plugging it in on trips involving only a handful of charge stops, but for trips...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

Tesla seems allergic to using parts suppliers, which has it’s own advantages and disadvantages. Rivian buys a lot of parts, fewer on the Gen2 vehicles which is part of what makes the G2 R1 vehicles cost a lot less to build (not reflected in the MSRP because the G1 vehicles lost massive amounts...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

You are probably right it is the same latch, or close enough that anyone competent to grease up one can do the other. On the other hand what if it wasn’t? What if for whatever reason the EV one had an extra sensor to tell if it was open or has tighter specs to seal it or whatever so it uses a...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

It is understandable that they would only have the EV certified tech do it, and it is understandable they only payed for one tech to take a month off from profitable work and go take the classes and the exam, but you are being incredibly generous to grant them “we scheduled this date and time...

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

Tesla and Rivian have built showrooms and service centers. You can go to them and test drive, and do trade-ins. You can also do most or all of the purchase process online. I traded my Tesla in for a Rivian, negated the price for the Rivian in advance, and the trade in price on the Tesla...

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

In her case she “snuck up” on several pedestrians who were having a conversation and as they were unaware of the car they were not obviously moving anywhere. They had drifted to a stop in the middle of the parking area blocking anyone from driving past. While waiting was an option there were...

Using an EV for backup power in case of power outage

FYI you can get an Apex 300 for about $800 from Bluetti’s eBay store. It like the EcoFlow can provide 240V and be charged via 120V while being charged. I ordered one recently, and because of the very storms that prompted me to pull the trigger it hasn’t arrived yet. So I can only say in...

    Scout Color Poll #1

In general car/truck buyers buy those colors. Sometimes because whatever color they do like isn’t available (I have silver because no blue is in my trim level on my current SUV, and Silver was the “least boring” of the choices). If for the moment you ignore “people buy b/s/w because they can’t...

Apple CarPlay ULTRA for Scout: A Game Changer for Infotainment?

In theory CP Ultra lets the car maker have substantial influence over how things appear, including fonts and the like. I haven’t looked over the details at the API level, I only watched a few developer presentations at WWDC. So I don’t know how much of that is “write code and you can control...

    actual ranges before orders?

That is a bit of a sore spot, and why my Rivian is Aside from that one small thing where I can legit say I might have died due to a software defect... The Rivan’s Navigation estimates have been within 1% to 2% even for fairly long trips. The EPA estimate is not all that accurate given...

Apple CarPlay ULTRA for Scout: A Game Changer for Infotainment?

Well that does change the value proposition of CarPlay Ultra, but maybe not by enough to make it worth all the extra work. I winder what a minimal CPU implementation would be. Like maybe keep doing your own display for the speed and everything, and use CarPlay Ultra just for the same sorts of...

Apple CarPlay ULTRA for Scout: A Game Changer for Infotainment?

Hmmm, I’m not so sure. CarPlay is about getting phone stuff on your vehicle screen, and I’m 100% down with wanting that. Like my Rivian is in the shop, and my wife’s VW Golf has CarPlay, and I really enjoy that one part of driving the Golf. I mean I’m not enjoying pressing the gas and...

Apple CarPlay ULTRA for Scout: A Game Changer for Infotainment?

Indeed, that is a big use case for CarPlay, but EVs generally integrate charging and navigation. So having your phone plan a route means the phone might not know the battery state int eh EV so it can’t put charging stops in at the right locations for you. In addition if the phone does guess or...

    Walkabout Mode (Safety Feature)

They don’t have a scheduling feature, and are not likely to get one because you have to get the phone to a clear view of the sky and wave it around (or point it as the phone demands). They are just on the border of the amount of TX power they need to get the signal to a satellite so having it...

Why the door handles/locks should not be purely electric...

So I have heard. I’m not sure what we really lose out on by having “only technical” door latches, so I’m willing to just believe it is “not enough to worry about” so I’ll just focus on it being one less thing to worry about if the 12V goes out. I guess that means the place you add 12V power to...

    actual ranges before orders?

I don’t work for any EV company, but my guess here is they will have an EPA estimated range using the same sort of unicorn conditions everyone else does, and that is what they will publish. Depending on how you drive you will get less or more, which isn’t surprising, if the two of us buy an...

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

NHSTA has a requirement for the pedestrian alert sounds. My wife had a For dCMAX that predated that requirement and didn’t have one. In parking lots it was silent and people would wonder in front of her, and stand milling about until she tapped her horn and more then once nearly caused a heart...

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

I get what you are saying, I really do. In part because I do have and really enjoy a “pure” BEV already that does great on long trips, except when I tow domething with a lot of wind resistance (six trees on my cargo trailer? No big, two freezers on the same trailer? It works out. A dump...

Why the door handles/locks should not be purely electric...

While I suppose this is possible, I’m not aware of any EV that doesn’t use a DC to DC converter to run the 12V/14V/28V electrical system off of the main 400V/800V traction battery when the traction battery is on. So exiting the vehicle and walking around would only rely on the 12V battery...

    Software Features

The Rivian and Tesla would notice the owners phone and/or key fob being “near by” and make various external controls active. Any that a foam cannon might register as a request to activate would be an issue, like spraying the charge cover on the Tesla would be interpreted as a request to open...
