  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

Completely agree, but there is a limit. For example, this is insane: For Driver Profiles specifically, you would bind a profile to a key fob/phone key. So when you get into the car it would automatically adjust to your profile based on the key you used. Because of that it would be rare that...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

AM is basically unusable in an EV due to EMF interference. FM works great though and I second (fifth?) the suggestion of FM. I still like to listen to local radio and it's great for those of us in storm country to get local information without electricity/internet.

Yeah, this is where the dance of physical buttons vs touchscreen comes into play. In the case of driver profiles, I think touchscreen is the way to go (my '07 Jeep Grand Cherokee has buttons for the profiles which limits the number). With Tesla it's an icon at the top of the screen that you...

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

I never change my seating, wheel, or mirror position. If I look up and can't see out of the rear view it's a reminder that I am slouching and to fix my posture. That being said, this thing is a rolling computer. There should be no practical limit to how many driver profiles you can have. No...

    Mechanical locking 4x4 over automatic

I am sorry but you are in the tiniest of tiny minorities. Furthermore, I don't think your statement about cutting costs and lessening points of failure is correct. The whole idea of having wheel hubs that lock and unlock is seldom used nowadays, and never to my knowledge in an EV. On "modern"...

    Mechanical locking 4x4 over automatic

Luckily International Harvester isn't building our Scouts. You can't build a car company for the 5 people in the world that want manual hubs. Those things went away for non-Baja 1000 vehicles in like 1986. In 2025 I expect the vehicle to do whatever it needs to do in order to get me to my...

Every receptacle is a potential charging station.

The problem is that the power is typically in the building. Heavy electrical lines are expensive and priced by the foot so most people choose the lowest-cost install which tends to be close to the building. Personally, I have more of a problem with the 10 curbside pickup spots that are also...

Sorry I've been out of the loop for a bit but I don't get what's so innovative? Tesla has had Google Maps integrated for years. When you navigate somewhere it will access Google Maps and tell you if the destination will be closed when you arrive, it takes elevation and wind into account when...

What my car’s built-in solar panels did for me today

IMO this should be solved in the aftermarket as I don't think that many people would use it. It sounds like something expensive that would break easily (thinking the solar tonneau cover route). Maybe it could be added in the future but I think it would be a distraction for Scout V1.

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

So my question is, what do you suggest instead? Opening thousands of service centers staffed with techs that mostly sit around? The company would be bankrupt in 6 months. You need a critical mass of customers in an area in order to justify the ongoing costs of a service center. Until then...

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

As a Tesla customer since 2010, I can offer some commentary on how I expect things to go, what it is reasonable, etc. I have no actual insight and so Scout may pull a rabbit out of a hat but here it goes. Service Centers will be a slow and steady build-out as the customer base expands and hits...

    E-brake

In the Tesla there is an electric motor that closes the rear friction caliper (Telsa's are all disc brakes). In the event of an emergency, you press and hold the park button and it will engage the ebrake.

From a Tesla and Lightning Owner: Here’s What I Need to See from Scout

So I have a question about the adaptive high beams. It's definitely cool tech but the videos always show it in the country. How does it work in a city? Can it spot a pedestrian/bicyclist and not blind them? I'm specifically concerned with Audi's laser-based headlights - how can they be sure...

Slate truck/SUV flat tow confirmed by Slate

In the old days of AC Asynch motors (what Tesla started with), it was not a problem. Those motors were pure electromagnets so if the car was not "On," no magnetic field was generated and the motor would simply freewheel. However, most have moved to permanent magnet motors. These motors are...

    Longer Range battery option

While costs are improving at a pretty steady pace, density is not following. The reason that the CyberTruck missed its range estimates by a country mile was that the density improvements did not arrive. Tesla delayed it as long as they felt that they could and then shipped a crippled version...

I appreciate the background. I meant in the accidental sense in which you would have to call a locksmith to retrieve your keys (or pry the window out just enough so you can fish around with a coat hanger. I never owned a vehicle with such a capability. I went from a Jeep TJ (manual...

    Audio System Brand Poll 2.0

Yeah, I don't care. I am not an audiophile. I mostly listen to podcasts while driving :geek: I will make a general note that I would like HD FM radio and that AM radio does not exist in any EVs that I am aware of. Too much interference from the other electrical systems. IIRC Tesla had it...

So I have not watched the video, but will chime in my my $0.02 based on 15 years of Tesla ownership (plus a 6-month dalliance with a Volvo XC40 EV). I can only speak to the S, X, and Roadster - I have never owned a 3 or Y (but have driven them as service loaners). The model S has retracting...
