  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Home Charger Reviews and FAQs

Thanks for the reply @Jamie@ScoutMotors . Could you also find out for us if Scout Motors is going to offer a Branded Level-1 or Level-2 EVSE (included or as an added cost accessory)?

Joining the EV gang while waiting for Scout!

Does your house have a transfer switch that you can use in emergencies? If not, that may be something to consider installing if you want to be able to run backup power during an outage. I doubt V2H will be available when the Scouts come out, but with a transfer switch you would be able to...

Joining the EV gang while waiting for Scout!

I am not saying that having a bit of education on using the chargers is a bad idea, I just want to assure everyone that it is not that difficult. The physical connection is actually easier than using a gasoline hose. There are really only two connection types (CCS and NACS) and it will be...

So, you got the white one. Let me guess, you have a grey RAV4. :p

Let’s see those personalized SM plates! | Just claimed "TERRA" in WA

Just so you know, there is a thread where we discussed vanity plate ideas for the Scouts: https://community.scoutmotors.com/threads/what-will-be-your-scouts-vanity-plate.1345/

    "Harvester" badge for non-Harvester models

Just so you are aware - originally the fuel tank for the Harvester was going to be in the front of the vehicle (just behind the front axe). The design has changed and the fuel tank will now be in the rear of the vehicle like in a typical truck. So the fuel door will almost certainly move to the...

So you have a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and you will be getting an Ioniq 5? Welcome to the club! We don't have jackets (reference), but the cookies are fresh! :D I have a 2017 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to provide any insights I may have.

    Happy Holidays!

The weather has taken a nasty turn here, so I'm staying put! I hope everyone can stay safe this holiday.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I wouldn't call the subscription model a problem, I would call it "easy to abuse". There are several features I can understand paying a subscription for in a car. I don't object to paying for a subscription where it makes sense - for example I pay for a XM radio subscription in my car. If I...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

What? You "tried to be one of the good ones"?!? Not, you "were one of the good ones"? What does that mean? I'm not getting a warm fuzzy feeling here @maynard . :p

How would you build your Scout?

Welcome to the dark side. 😁

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. While some people will just use gas in the Harvester, I expect most people will use home charging to save money. My brother had a Volt for years and told me that he drove it to work every day but still only had to get gas three or four times a year. It was...

Amazon isn't related to Slate, they are not even investing in it. The only relation to Amazon is that Jeff Bezos (through his family office, Bezos Expeditions) is one of multiple investors in Slate (quoted from this Newsweek article). I don't know why writers keep linking Amazon to Slate, Jeff...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I don't even get 3.5 mi/kWh at 65mph on the highway in my Ioniq 5. There is no way that the Scouts will have that sort of efficiency.

Yes. The base Slate is a two-door, two-seat pickup. Adding the SUV option includes two seats and the extra body panels to convert it. This is what the base slate looks like (from the Slate website):

The short range is for the base version. They have already said they will offer a larger battery for more range. At a higher cost, of course. IMHO, the small battery with ~150 mile range is being offered just so they can hit their under $30,000 offer price. The starting at under $20K was with...

The Slate is a single-cab design. No mid-gate. But it does only have a 5 foot bed.
