  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

First, I appreciate the respectful tone. It is refreshing to discuss the actual merits of the vehicle rather than attacking each other. I see your point about "Relative Value"—compared to an $80k Rivian or a $100k Hummer, yes, $60k looks "cheap." But I think the Slate comparison you made...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I’m realizing that we aren't going to get anywhere here. I am attempting to discuss the hard data of manufacturing scale and market demographics, while you seem more interested in debating rhetoric and semantics. There is no common ground to be found between those two things. Let's just agree...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I think we are talking past each other on a few points, so let me clarify: 1. The Camry Metaphor-- to be clear, I wasn't suggesting anyone drive a sedan up a mountain pass. I was using the "Beige Camry" as a metaphor for a purely logical, zero-emotion purchase (an appliance). My point was...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

You make a valid point about vanity and emotion—if we all bought purely on logic, we'd all be driving beige Camrys. No argument there; the "Cool Factor" is real currency. But here is where the "Resto-Mod / Vanity" argument hits a wall: Scale. VW didn't invest billions into a South Carolina...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

You hit the nail on the head with the "US assembly is the killer" comment, but I think it goes deeper than just minimum wage or parts costs. 1. The "Jobs Program" Tax: The uncomfortable truth we have to face is that the US often treats manufacturing as a "Jobs Program" first and a production...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Fair enough. When I refer to "we," I am speaking to the segment of the market that is looking for the utility value that was promised, but I understand that doesn't include every individual buyer. Regarding the Lightning: My point wasn't about whether you personally like or would buy the Ford...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I think the "trap" is actually the opposite. The trap is believing that a capable, electric utility truck has to cost $60,000+ because that’s what the current market dictates. You mentioned the Lightning. That is actually the perfect example of why some of us are skeptical of the "Value"...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Welcome to the forum, MClayton. I think there is a crucial distinction in that "$20,000 less" figure that explains the disagreement here. When Scout says they plan to be "$20k less than competitors," they are almost certainly comparing themselves to the Rivian R1S/R1T or the Hummer EV, which...

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

    Definitely understand this perspective.

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

You are absolutely right to be looking at the total monthly outflow rather than just the sticker price, because the math has gotten truly mind-blowing. When you run the numbers on a $60,000 truck with current interest rates, plus the "EV premium" on insurance that you mentioned, you are easily...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

We can disagree on pricing strategy without resorting to personal insults. Let's try to keep the conversation constructive and focused on the vehicle, as per the community guidelines.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I worked in sales at a dealership back in college, so I’ve seen the "Market Adjustment" game firsthand. It was the Corvette Z06 back then. It’s a broken system (dealerships), and I’m glad the industry is slowly moving toward Direct-to-Consumer models to kill it. That said, while DTC stops the...

Rivian just announced new Ai chip for level 4 autonomous driving

As someone who spends a lot of his life in the air, that idea gives me a lot of concern!

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I hear you. Honestly, looking at the way the market has been for the last four years, it is hard not to expect that number. But I want to clarify one thing about the "lower tier." I know we aren't talking about a "bad" vehicle here; we are talking about the Entry-Level Trim—the base model. And...

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

This is the most grounded post I’ve seen in a while. You hit on something critical that gets glossed over in these price debates: The Out-the-Door Reality. A "$59,900" truck is, as you noted, easily a $68,000 transaction once you add destination charges (which are creeping towards $2,000 for...

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

I want to vote, but the question is a bit of a logic trap as currently worded. "Will starting under $60k prevent you from buying?" The problem is that "Under $60k" covers both a $40,000 truck (which I would buy instantly) and a $59,900 truck (which isn't an instant yes). • If I vote "No" (it...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

You are technically correct that the Scout’s wheelbase (120.4") is nearly identical to the Chevy Tahoe’s (120.9"), but using that metric to classify it as a "Full Size" SUV is misleading. In off-road engineering, you push the wheels to the absolute corners to maximize approach and departure...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

    1. The "Ramcharger is confused" Myth You claimed the Ramcharger is delayed because "they just can't figure out the technology." That is demonstrably false. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis explicitly stated in interviews (e.g., Road & Track, June 2025) that the delays were a "strictly business decision"...

Rivian just announced new Ai chip for level 4 autonomous driving

RJ Scaringe was pretty explicit in his recent interviews (specifically around Autonomy Day) regarding the VW partnership. He clarified that the current deal covers the electrical architecture, zonal controllers, and network software—basically the "nervous system" of the car. However, he...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

    1. "Why won't I answer?" I didn't "refuse" to answer; I likely missed the question buried in the thread. But frankly, I wouldn't answer because it is completely irrelevant. This isn't a job interview. It’s a discussion about pricing and market data. You don't need to be a Michelin Star chef to...
