  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Wait, power FOLDING mirrors, or power MIRRORS? Because those are different. If it is manual mirrors, that I might believe. But non-power FOLDING mirrors are still super common. My Ioniq 9 doesn't get power folding mirrors for the first 2 trim levels. And those have an MSRP of almost $60k. But...

I thought this was a proof of concept vehicle. Basically an electric Jerry Can.

Lol. Totally missed this (watched like half the video, then looked up some ground clearance specs). Removing the third row... is dumb. That is in fact the whole point of a minivan for MOST people. Some people use them as tiny cargo vans, but that number is pretty small. And as mentioned...

Believe it or not, Its not the only light offroading minivan. The Toyota Sienna Woodland edition has existed for a few years (although its only like a .8in lift). And, you can buy lift kits for Siennas (3in lift kits). And have been for... a few decades? They're not for "real" offroading...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I lose track here. What EV do you have, and how big of a trip are you planning? And what are you using for your planning? I've got Hyundai Pay setup (which does plug and charge for a few networks, and app compatability with a few others, so its sort of a one stop shop for "probably a...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Totally true, you're right. We've never DCFC'd, so it literally didn't come to mind 😲. Given, we have under 1000 miles on it so far. To be blunt, I think if we were on the "open road" on a road trip it would be even worse than that. I'd expect more like 2.5 - 2.9miles/kwh at the highway...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Yep. Fuel cost is ~$4.50, Electricity is $0.10263. Cost to drive 100 miles in my: 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee (~14mpg): $32.14 2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV using only gas (33mpg): $13.63 2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV using battery + gas (33 miles of EV range + 33mpg for the rest): $1.42 + $9.14 = $10.56...

Package options - what would you like bundled?

I'd be really surprised if this happened personally. Totally possible, but wasn't really on my radar. I can't imagine the front bench weighs much different than the console. Maybe because they're worried about the extra weight of the 6th person?

Ok ok. I know what it is. But... each, and every time I see PBY, I see "Peanut Butter Yellow" first. Anyone else see PBY and read that each time? No? Just me? Or maybe thats more parental trauma again?

Yeah, that would be brutal. Although, thats not one of the "actual" layouts that are designed for speed. There main others are DVORAK and COLEMAK. I've never bothered to try/learn them though. I just get by with QWERTY. I'm not an astonishingly fast typist, but last I checked I was in the...

My Hyundai also offers an "auto hold" button, but it is not dependent on it being an EV (my PHEV also has this button, and does not have one pedal driving mode). It simply holds you at a stop once you come to a stop, so you don't have to keep your foot on the brake. In my Ioniq 9, one pedal...

    Lexus LX/Tesla3 ==> Terra BEV

Before this last 2 that I got new, I had only barely owned vehicles under 100k miles. I bought my Jeep, and my Mazda with 98k, and 96k miles respectively :D.

Tinted Windshield? I could see cloth seating. The Ioniq 9's two lower trims were both around that price, and both came with cloth. I am curious if we'll see fake leather as the vinyl seating substitute. Also, when people say "vinyl floors", they're meaning rubberized floors right? Basically...

I'm 95% certain this will hold true. :D (In my mountain biking forum there was a huuuuuuge thread that started out with someone asserting that "95% of people are riding around overbiked" (meaning, too much suspension travel/weight for their needs), and it exploded into a years long off topic...

Hey, thats a passing grade. I'll take it :). FWIW, I really struggle to get people to do things for me. It feels like I'm "cutting corners on my man card" any time I pay someone else to do things for me. I think part of the struggle is that my self image involves being "capable of doing...

I understand the sentiment, to an extent. But I think its an over-generalization of stereotypes. I'll freely admit that I could/should do more DIY stuff. Particularly the stuff in the "trades", as I didn't get much exposure to them growing up. But I did work window washing, Landscaping, AC...

    Ranking current known colors

Sparkly, thankfully I can say "no" to. Silo Green? Yes, definitely yes. More than once. I've got one highly memorable/amusing story about an airplane flight, both kids, and zero changes of clothes. But maybe thats for another time.
