  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

A few more random photos, because... why not :). Bonus points if you can spot the whale :P. And we live near one of the larger tulip festivals in the country, so its a nearly yearly thing make it up there. And I can't NOT bring the camera :D.

September 2025 Scout Motors Factory Update

Simple. You don't keep track of everything :). Usually you end up following/watching sub-forums that you enjoy more. And when you get bored with that, you often go check the "whats new" tab to see what other chatter you can engage on. Source: I've got well over 3k posts in multiple different...

But you are sharpening them, sometimes! Thats more than most people do. Actually, my wife is now frustrated any time we go back to her parents house, and she's asked to help cook. The inlaws knives are always soooooo bad (and they keep them in a drawer...). Your knifeman sounds a bit like the...

Assuming you've got a live and active/vigorous starter, the rest of it comes pretty quickly. Honestly, sourdough bread is pretty forgiving, and most recipes are pretty simple (the one I use is literally flour, water, starter (which is itself technically just flour and water), and a tiny bit of...

Interesting idea. I see what you're saying. The bear is a bit fuzzy as well. I should have used a few different settings (more ISO or faster shutter speed, or both. I have motion blur on it), but as the bear was only 40ft from me, I was also keeping an eye on said bear in the moment. I was...

Kind words, thank you. Not sure if I'm talented, or just good at only showing the few projects that worked as intended ;). Really though, I just enjoy learning to do new things. I really enjoy the satisfaction that comes from finally learning to do the thing, given enough time and practice...

    Scout Traveler/Terra RC Rock Crawler?

I almost created a new thread with the title "So, I took my BEV Scout out for some testing"... Thought maybe that would get more clicks. But saner heads prevaled. :D. And, I see that Jamie is giving some thumbs up. In which case, I will reiterate that my son and I are still available for any...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The fact that they talk about articulation, is a good thing likely. And the Hilux is renowned. So thats another good thing. Although now that I see that its not planned for the US, or EU markets, I get the looks a bit more. Not sure how to say this, but the styling didn't look like something...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

It looks almost like a Jeep Renegade, Kei car mix. The tires and wheels look oddly undersized to me. While the body is a lot more bulbous than I'd have thought it would. And that combo together gives it an odd look (IMO). Have more to say about the looks, but none of it is particularly...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

That C-Pillar looks horrible. And something weird is going on around the fender flares in the rear, with the rear of the vehicle.

    Scout Traveler/Terra RC Rock Crawler?

Had another day out with the Scout the other day :). My kiddo giving it the thumbs up. And from another day earlier in the year. My father driving it this time.

My kiddos made their own knives as well, at the same time. And yes, the first order of business, even before the knives were started was about the "blood circle" and "triangle of death". I was an active scouter (Eagle Scout), but my kids aren't in it. Still trying to teach lots of the same stuff...

September 2025 Scout Motors Factory Update

Compared to past months, this looks very "enclosed". Yay for roofs and walls, before the winter sets in fully. I'm sure everyone is happy about that :).

    What’s your hobby

I'm sure at this point, many people know my "main" hobby. But I may need to break this post up, because... uh, I have too many hobbies, and honestly it would just be too long to read/type all at once. I really enjoy learning new things. So ever few years I like to pick up a new skill/hobby...

    Product Tester(Driver)

I’ve also already volunteered, to represent the PacificNorthWet. And also added the “I’ll use it as a shuttle vehicle for stinky and muddy mountain bikers” and the “ferry 15-18yr olds from the youth group I mentor to snowshoeing, and various other shenanigans”. I’m not sure if either of those...

Independent Suspension vs Solid Rear Axle??

This. Solid rear axles are preferred, and are used on almost all trucks, for strength. They also work better for rock crawling, usually with better articulation. They also make the vehicle easy to lift. The solid axle can be suspended via different methods as mentioned. A leaf spring is super...

Speculation - will Scout use the new EV battery announced by VW?

I've long said that the last places to adopt EV's, will be very, very cold places. Batteries just do NOT like the cold. So I hear you there, and understand that you've got to do what you have to do. No worries there. If you drive from heated (or at least not as frozen) garage to drive around...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

My 7 yr old literally hoards my old trophies like this. I kept some of them from when I was a kid (the "slightly more impressive" ones). They are mostly sports related (I played competitive soccer for 15 years, like 3-4 seasons a year), there are a few from other things. Including winning the...
