  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Yes. The base Slate is a two-door, two-seat pickup. Adding the SUV option includes two seats and the extra body panels to convert it. This is what the base slate looks like (from the Slate website):

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The short range is for the base version. They have already said they will offer a larger battery for more range. At a higher cost, of course. IMHO, the small battery with ~150 mile range is being offered just so they can hit their under $30,000 offer price. The starting at under $20K was with...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The Slate is a single-cab design. No mid-gate. But it does only have a 5 foot bed.

Show us your holiday spirit and/or Xmas tree

It is a trap! There better be something under the tree for her or you will regret it. Ask me how I know.

    Possible competition?

That was not in any of the articles I read about the F150 Lightning. It seems they (and I) missed that bit int he Ford announcement. I stand corrected.

November 2025 Scout Motors Production Center Update

The blog article includes info about the new supplier park. It looks totally different from what I expected. I thought it would be more like a strip mall layout (long width and shallow depth), but the images show something a lot more rectangular. I am going to have to re-adjust my expectations...

    Possible competition?

If they were "switching it to an EREV powertrain" you would be able to buy a 2026 model. So this is not just a change in powertrain, this is Ford planning a new truck to sell sometime in the future. Probably 5 years or more in the future. If they are not building F150 Lightnings for several...

    Possible competition?

Ford has said it will come out in 2027 (from this article "The skunkworks EV truck is not even due out until 2027."). Note: Ford is not calling it the Maverick EV, that is what I am calling it since they ave not released a name yet.
  9. BeerParty

    Possible competition?

According to the article I read, Ford is not abandoning BEVs altogether, just the F150 Lightening. Ford will still have a car (the Mustang Mach-E) and will have a small BEV truck (the Maverick EV*) soon. It sounds like they are planning a large EREV truck targeting the folks that need a towing...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

That is not where you want the shovel to "come in"!

Ideas for the revamps and the Travelers Sister!

While I have a Terra reserved, what I would really like to see in the next Traveler they bring out for the shows is one without the tire carrier, so we can see what the back looks like without the carrier. I know that Scott mentioned they had a plan for this, but I want to see what it looks like.

    Scoutmas?

"Patience you must have, my young Padawan." It is only December 15th, we still have a while to go before Christmas arrives. Now be good, or I'll tell Scotty-Claus to put coal in your stocking.

Is there anything that would make you switch from the BEV to the EREV?

I would ask to join them, but I would be a terrible addition to the team. I don't have any off-roading experience (which I plan to change after getting my Terra, but until then I am a total amateur). I don't have any automotive mechanical skills; I don't even know how to weld. I have never been...

Is there anything that would make you switch from the BEV to the EREV?

I finally thought of something that might tempt me to switch from the BEV to the EREV. If I was allowed to join the Scout Vintage Race Program team and could use my Scout as a support vehicle for their 2028 Baja 1000 race. :LOL...

    Harvester Battery Size

As a follow-up: Since the Harvester battery will have a 60-70 kWh capacity and an efficiency similar to the Ford F150 Lightning, a Level-1 charger will not fully charge the battery overnight. If you have a short daily commute you may be able to get by with a Level-1 charger. But if you have a...

    Harvester Battery Size

A level-1 charger will cost you less than $150 and uses a standard 15amp house outlet (so no electrical upgrade is necessary). With the savings of using electricity over gasoline, the charger will pay for itself in less than 3,000 miles of driving. But to answer your question - yes you can run...

    Scouts for tall people

I am 6'5" tall myself and I am not super worried. But one thing that is part of my plan is I am not getting the bench seat. I don't know how much adjustment is available with the bench seat, but I'm fairly confident that the bucket seats will have a better range of adjustment.

"And what happened, then? Well, in Whoville they say – that the Scout's Harvester battery grew three sizes that day. And then, the true meaning of Christmas came through, and the Scout found the range of ten Scouts, plus two!" - with apologies to Dr. Seuss.
