  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Ford model T moment vs Scout motors

I think Ford has also sent Rivian a bunch of money - so good chance it will have a Rivian based platform in 2027 - the same time Scout and VW are releasing Rivian based platform vehicles. Googled, Ford invested 500m for Rivians battery platform, VW invested about 10x that for EV electrical and...

    Battery Type

It is not so much better or worse quality-just different characteristics that might lend themselves to different uses. NMC tend to have more energy density and have higher rates of charge, at the expense of cost, overall life, and high % charge life, and being more flammable. LFP tends to have...

What goodies have you gotten from a dealer/manufacturer after purchasing a car

A few vehicles have come with items. My experience with dealers after the sale has been rather negative. Even when items were negotiated with the sale, those negotiations were thrown out the window after initial delivery - or I declined after the price of them tripled. The best I managed was...

    Must haves to purchase…

Official reason nobody will work on my VW is there is apparently a fear (based on word of mouth with other repair shops) that connecting their diagnostic computer to the VW might fried their diagnostic computers. I have no clue if that ever happened, or when it might have happened - but nobody...

    Must haves to purchase…

This is right on the edge of my must haves - for me, Scout must stay out of politics. The wind on this forum is generally out of the left, and it will be hard for them not to sway with it. But 1/2 the US does not agree with that, and I live in a rather conservative area. I really don't want...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

With the exception of a couple micro Buckees - every one I have gone to has had a bunch of Tesla chargers. Last year they were adding additional with gen 4 cabinets at most and some were also an adding a bank of Mercedes chargers as well. Gen 4 cabinets are 800v capable, but don't have the...

Do you think we will see a Travelette (Long Bed Heavy Duty)?

I have owned everything from sub compacts to 3/4 ton pickups (my 2 main daily drivers at the moment). Outside the cities, the 3/4 ton's main disadvantage is fuel efficiency (and to be honest, a stiffer suspension). In the city - I don't drive it in the city unless I really need to. I would...

    Must haves to purchase…

I have had 5.5' bed trucks, and 6.5' bed trucks. I know the Terra is going to be a 5.5' bed. Not sure if I would change my Traveler reservation if it was 6.5' - but do know it is a major consideration why I have never considered the Terra. The utility difference for me is huge. I want room...

    Bigger Cup Holders

Ok, will add in my complaint to this. I have several vehicles with different sized holders - my F250 has 2 different sized holders in the front console. Latest craze has been tall insulated cups (thank you Stanley - not sure if that is satire or not). Too large of cup holder, and it flies...

    Blindspot Mirrors in Sideview Mirrors!

Her world ends next Wednesday with school starting anyway - and she is staying with friends this weekend. We are about 1 month out of the 2025 release dates - so maybe set up her account on an old ipad for a month or so. Honestly, would rather just get her an ipad mini with cellular, she...

    Blindspot Mirrors in Sideview Mirrors!

Towing mirrors for the win-usually. That said, they did not save me yesterday. Taking my daughter on a sleep over. She got in my truck, realized she forgot something and ran in the house. I decided to turn the truck around to make a faster get away. When I was almost through turning around...

    Optional Third Row

On my 4th pickup as a daily driver. First was a single cab bench - had no problems with it (but had no kids, and a single dog). Second, I don't recall. Hated the truck, made a few bad decisions on it's specs (was dogless at the time). It spent weeks in the shop under warranty, traded it in...

    Must haves to purchase…

Your posts shows while there can be a lot of common ground, you can never please everyone every time. You want a mid sized vehicle, Scout is planning a full sized vehicle. Those 2 markets don't have a ton of crossover. Eventually Scout might build a smaller Sport model - but if they change...

    Must haves to purchase…

It is hard to really tell, but I can look at the past to predict the future. I was really looking forward to purchasing an ID Buzz. So I can look at why I did not. First failure was timing. They talked about it, and talked about it. I tried to put off replacing our existing mini-van...

    Terra 5th Wheel Towing?

Just fun math time. Let's assume EV trucks have 160kw/h batteries and a 100 mile range (1.6kw/mile) while towing a 10k lb trailer. While we are playing with it - my F250 gets about 14mpg while towing, and diesel is $3/gallon. So my F250 is about $0.21/mile. So break even would be about...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Posted in the 5th wheel thread, towing capacity is going to be limiting with goose necks. I guess there are plenty some to be towed with 1/2 ton trucks and 10k towing capacity - most seem to be heavier. One thing that probably will not happen - 2x AC charging. Ford tried it, discontinued it...

    Terra 5th Wheel Towing?

While I have a reservation on a Traveler, I guess there is always a chance I might change, so I keep track of the Terra threads. I have 2 goose neck trailers I use. One is 8k lbs unloaded-so I seriously doubt I would ever use it and still be under 10k (It might carry the Scout, but the Scout...

June 2025 Scout Motors Production Center Update

Scouts Anonymous. It's been at least 12hrs since the last time I have checked the form for juicy updates (probably not true).

    Mechanical locking 4x4 over automatic

I was confused, did some googling, probably still confused-maybe worse. But this is what my pathetic googlefu came up with. Other than some dedicated offroad only vehicle, if you have rear wheel drive, you will have a rear differential. Lockers lock the rear differential. The rear axle will...

    Spare tire discussion

The trailer is probably over rated for it's use. The tires were probably the cheapest Chinese junk the manufacture could source.
