  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Scout Traveler and Terra Photo Collections and Wallpapers

Pacific Mist, Atlantic Dew. It is just a little bright to be Harvest Smoke - the haze that blows in from the south every year from the sugar cane harvest in Mexico (and we seem to live with for about 1/2 the year).

Scout Traveler Debuts in New Pacific Mist Color

While options are not a bad thing, given the roof top options shown so far - I am most interested in the platform on the new Terra and least interested in the multi-rails shown on this one. They might be great and the best option so far-but most rails like it are for luggage racks and those do...

    Roof rack mounting points

Roof rack attaching varies vehicle to vehicle, year to year. Our Sienna had no options for quite a few years - and I never got a rack on it. Wranglers are almost as bad - with a fiberglass roof, there is no real strength to attach to. For a strong mount, you either need to go around their...

Scout Concepts in New York City September 18-19, 2025

I do some long trips-but honestly Ft Worth/Dallas is probably over the edge of what I can manage with a day trip (it's over 10hrs of driving). Will see, but I might likely pass and wait for a hopefully closer opportunity (San Antonio, Austin, Houston, or Corpus). Love Texas, but there is some...

Terra truck bed looks smaller now.

Is the rooftop platform new? I recall a rack on the Traveler, but I do not recall a platform before. I like it.

    Solo Scout camping fantasy lineup

Honestly, how I move my kayaks will depend on a bunch of factors. I generally always get a premium roof rack for my vehicles if possible (and will if I can with the Scout. I have yet to see a "premium" factory roof rack - will have to wait and see what the load ratings of the Scout rack are...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I have 2 DC refrigerators. The larger one is the size of the Iceco. I don't carry it often, and it would be difficult to put it under a sleeping deck (the deck would have to be significantly higher than I would prefer. The second was a cheap Chinese one. It would be much easier to put under...

    Solo Scout camping fantasy lineup

Aluminum single Jetski trailer. Probably 4' wide, with about 1' of ground clearance. It's light enough to easily pick up the rear wheels and swing it around (unloaded) in a parking lot.

    Solo Scout camping fantasy lineup

First off, going with a Traveler - so I can put a sleeping platform in it. Most of my camping is activity oriented. Looking forward to sleeping in AC, but I generally don't do a lot of camp life stuff. I have a DC refrigerator and an induction cooktop - but normally don't take them with me -...

What trim levels would you like to see at launch?

how about towing cameras. Make sure the cameras can operate at speed - there are times I would LOVE to look at my trailer in the camera (as a trailer is generally mostly in my blind spot while towing. Maybe cameras on the outer edges of the side view mirrors - not quite as good as towing...

    Higher Range

Range is important to me. I can hope that the base model will get an honest 350 mile range. Weather or not I would pay more for an extended range version - well that depends on how much more range and how much more cost. I would not like to pay an extra 10k, but for 100 miles more range I...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

While I flew into Johannesburg, we headed west out of town within minutes (all the time in Johannesburg was freeways or toll roads). Other than the tribal lands (huge shanty villages) outside each small town - honestly it felt a lot like S. Texas (well, the S. Texas I grew up in, even most of...

    3 ton floor jack

I doubt it would have a problem. I have a heavy floor jack, and a 1.5 ton lightweight. I use the 1.5 ton most of the time. If you can pick up a single side of a single axle... Hell I changed the tires on a big RV with it (Ok, honestly I used both for that - probably used the light one to...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Funny, vacationed in S. Africa a few years ago. Google says they drive on the left side of the road, but I never noticed it. All the vehicles I road in were left side driving (Toyota Land Cruiser truck and SUV), and I could have sworn all the roads were drive on the right hand side. Big...

4 cylinder Ford ranger 2.3 ranger vs terra

Ok, time for funny math. An efficient EV SUV needs gets about 2.5 miles / kw. At 60mph, that would be about 24kw/h. I can not think of many alternators that put out more than 100 amps - which would be a bit more than 1.2kw/h. Harvester will be needing to put out at least 28kw/h (for break...

Make it easy to precool your Scout and create routines (Mobile Integration)

don't think 10 minutes will pull it off in S. Texas (and Arizona, forget about it). If it does, that is one hell of an AC system. So I hope for either/both longer and one hell of an AC system. While driving, an insulated roof would help - but it will only help only so much on pre cool... Of...

Taking bets on the new color of the Traveler Concept to be seen soon...

well, it probably will not be matte olive or FDE.

    The Tax Man Cometh?

Well let's play with some funny numbers. My truck gets 14mpg. Assuming 10k miles per year, that is a tad over 700 gallons a year. Federal diesel tax is .244 per gallon. So my trucks federal diesel tax is $171 a year, with a State tax of $140. Now if I up that to to 15k miles - then my...

Waiting for Scout, I leased an Ioniq 5. Here are things I'd like to Improve and as they relate to Scout Terra or Traveler

Kind of surprised nobody has come out with a cheap robotic arm that will plug the charger in. Guess self parking would help though - would kind of be fun if the car could park on the same dot in your garage effortlessly every time.

Scout Concepts in New York City September 18-19, 2025

NYC is a huge population, so I understand why the market can not be ignored. But I don't see NYC as the land of full sized SUV's and trucks either. But that is just me. In rural S. Texas - more than 1/2 the vehicles seem to be full sized SUV's and trucks.
