  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

How Will Scout Keep Its Momentum Until 2027?

I am sure market analysts have researched the automotive market ad nauseam. They know how long each percentile of perspective buyers plan in advance. I don't have that type of information. Likewise I should know better than to believe that other people have the same thought process I have...

How flat towing should work in a perfect world....if Scout makes it a feature.

I do it occasionally. Once upon a time, I kayaked a LOT. River kayaking especially, you don't want to return to the same spot you put in, you want to go downstream. One guy I paddled with had the perfect solution - he would tow his recovery vehicle to the take out and drop it off - then go to...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I have already reserved the BEV. But I could be swayed by price difference, timing difference, final published ranges, and maybe towing capacity, etc... If the price is the same and the BEV has a 350 mile range, I am still in the BEV camp. I wish it would have a longer range, or a cheaper...

How flat towing should work in a perfect world....if Scout makes it a feature.

As much as I would like flat tow capability - seeing a BEV being towed by an ICE is bad publicity. First assumption, they ran out of charge.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I think the poster was alluding to ways of combating range anxiety. For the most part, that is the entire purpose of the Harvester. But I am sure EV companies have done studies to see the relationship between customers pre-sales range anxiety and the estimated range of the EV. I am sure many...

    Initial Production Release

We did a JLURD order. I wanted to test drive one first - that took 2 years. Tried to order immediately after the test drive - order que was locked. So we worked up the order, put down a reasonable deposit and waited. Think it was 3 months before the que was unlocked, we got our order in...

    Ev Delay

I don't think Scout will let a factory sit idle. I hope Scout is independent enough that VW group can not tell them to delay production because it might hurt sales of other VW group products. Scout will probably need quite a few months of production to fill existing EREV orders. I think...

    Ev Delay

It is true there is a LOT of battery anxiety. I am hoping that as the market matures, this will be reduced. Cell prices have dropped like a rock over the last 10 years. Life has improved. As a battery swap market matures with luck this will become more and more of a non-issue. Growing up...

    EREV initial release only?

While I will not be overjoyed with a protracted and undefined wait - I can try to look at a silver lining. Building a few test EV's will not be difficult, they will most likely still build test vehicles. Longer testing might work out kinks. Plus changes in battery tech might become...

    actual ranges before orders?

I guess the point of my question is what are the chances of independent testing before orders. I guess that really depends first on when reservations are going to need to be converted to orders, how many test vehicles they get on the road early, who drives them - and what type of NDA is...

    actual ranges before orders?

I know we are still a long way off from turning reservations into orders - but I had a fleeting though. How solid is the estimated range going to be when that day comes. Virtually every company tends to overstate the estimated range (or publishes the ranges in unicorn conditions). I am...

What do we think is going to happen on the 24th of October?

My bets - probably an interview or a press conference with little new details. I don't think they are holding back a bombshell just to celibate a day.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Not really a ponzi scheme - just the nature of production. Depending on how much they choke down a new well - it can easily put out 1/2 of it's lifetime production in the first 3 months. Horizontal wells are very expensive to drill - so a dip in oil prices can turn a boom to a bust overnight...

Scout Pricing and State Rebate Programs

I watched a video earlier today, I think it was probably 2 weeks or so old though. Scout said a few things I was less than comfortable about. One was kind of condemning the current off road vehicle mentality (conquer nature - I really don't see how an off road vehicle company can condemn off...

when does production begin ..pLEASE HURRY UP

2 different strategies. The BEV is simpler - so they in theory could get it to market easier. If it knocks it out of the park with reviews, it could possibly sway some people from the EREV to the BEV version. Or, do the EREV as it has the vast majority of reservations. Which way they go is a...

    List Price

While the truck and SUV markets are very competitive, the full sized EV truck and SUV markets are fairly limited. Ford and Chevy don't have great sales yet, and I don't think Dodge has entered the ring - and honestly, other than the Nissian Titan (which I don't think is made anymore), that is...

    What’s your hobby

I would love to say fishing, hunting, and kayaking - but my actual hobby is more like spending time on the internet reading about those things. Once upon a time I fished about every other weekend 4 months out of the year, and kayaked multiple times per week (2x per week year round, and every...

I suspect the difference is how much you don't follow the rules... Your description did not include utterly ignoring the speed limit for instance.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I live in a rural ag community. Unless you are really old money, most new ranchers lease what they can find - so they have to move equipment, so making fuel at the barn not all that common anymore. Solution, mobile refueling out of a tank in the bed of their truck - so 150 gallons in a truck...

    Scout Adventure Center

Of course, if you are camping with your Scout as power - a nice bank of high amp 800v superchargers would be nice to top off before the trip home (maybe while you are having your morning breakfast and coffee).
