  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I had to look up the difference between Level 2 and 2+. Per my search, my 8 year old Ford F250 is level 2 - adaptive cruise control and steering wheel bumps if you start to drift out of your lane) - and so does my wife's Rubicon (although it not quite as old). Decade old tech in a 60k vehicle...

Show us your holiday spirit and/or Xmas tree

tree is up, but not decorated. My cats are too old to climb, but will probably have a dog or 2 sleeping under it soon enough.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I like it, it could be a decent site vehicle - can not be licensed for onroad US use.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

An electric tractor is kind of a niche application - abet maybe a large niche. The tractor needs to have a location it goes to daily. It needs to be used in such a way that it does not need refueling multiple times a day - that its use is not time sensitive. For people with hobby tractors -...

    Standard Bed Utility

Well, in my mind - a "standard" bed is at least 6'. I don't think there will be a problem with some company making a topper for the Scout - but having owned a F150 with a 5 1/2' bed with a topper, will never do that again. Took 90% of the utility for me than from my full standard bed camper...

    What was your first job?

Hauling hay one summer, construction the next, then more hay hauling (but now strongest on crew - and shoveling dried chicken excrement out of chicken houses. It gave me plenty of motivation for undergrad and grad school.

    Rear Wiper Hopes & Dreams!

Guess I just don't care all that much about the rear wiper. Between having a truck with a load in the bed, or a SUV with a rear mounted tire - just not used to a great view from the window. Cameras on the other hand are very useful.

Trying to understand size, especially interior.

IIRC, a few years ago Ford decided to use the same cab on the F150 and F250. Not sure how many F150's get the towing mirrors though. My F250 is a few years old now-so there might have been layout changes (I have drove a newer Explorer - and it has a lot of unfortunate layout changes). The...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Authentic farm noises - honestly, don't know what a farm sounds like. I know what a ranch sounds like - right now a lot of cows moo'ing in anger because they don't have unlimited hay. When I think of farm noises - I imagine the rooster's crowing at inappropriate times to get you to wake up in...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Hopefully the new architecture will not have the random disable feature that is plaguing many Porshe owners in Russia right now. Imagine a smart politically motivated hacker - shut down your vehicle if you go to a store on their boycott list.

How did you find out about the new Scouts?

Don't recall exactly - but I had a habit of watching videos of upcoming EV's, waiting for one that interested me. Scout is probably the 4th, but of the first 3, 2 are not making any progress towards production, and the other made production and was a major disappointment. That said, it was 20...

    What age group are you?

Numbers are not entirely unexpected. Less people in the younger groups can probably afford it. Oldest group - less online, and honestly less time to think that far ahead. Honestly - I don't want to wait till I am 60 for my next vehicle, life is too short. Likewise, the middle groups are...

October 2025 Scout Motors Production Center Update

As far as I understand (which is not much), Scout is (and most likely properly) keeping how the order que will be filled close to their vest. If they have not done it already, I assume there will be a bunch of long meetings discussing it. While it might not be a make or break decision - how...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

There are interesting studies for emissions for EV vs ICE. EV's presumably have more emissions during construction. Depending on the source of electricity, while virtually all are lower for EV's - it still takes time to overcome the initial deficit. What an EV virtually always does is move...

    Walkabout Mode (Safety Feature)

Well, in the situation of the kayaker - he was 8 miles offshore. Kind of out of range of an Apple tag. Outside US territorial waters (in Baja) - and probably outside cell range (problem with any line of sight communications, but I really don't know about how well Baja has cell reception). Low...

    Walkabout Mode (Safety Feature)

I used to be fairly serious into kayaking. First safety rule was don't paddle alone. I don't kayak nearly as much anymore, but within an arm of a niche that I still do more often than others, we recently lost a member of our community. While nothing on a Scout could have changed that accident...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

Parts of Texas have a fairly robust charging network - other parts, not so much. We have 2 more years for chargers to be put in, so I am hoping the week areas get boosted some before I get my BEV.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Well though out lights are kind of a must have - but not anything we will probably get a good hard review about. I was not an exceptionally early adopter to LED's - but honestly, the LED's on our 2018 Wranglers sucked. While it is entirely possible to get a good beam pattern out of LED's...

    Software Features

Bit more complicated, but most current mapping software can display the local speed limit - make the speed limit orange. Plus we have a section in Texas that has an 85mph speed limit.

Why the door handles/locks should not be purely electric...

electric over manual is probably fine - plus perhaps even have a keyed entry on something. Which brings me to a feature to add to another thread - but it has been already mentioned. A waterproof way to open a door. My VW has a physical key hidden in the handle assembly - but I never managed...
