  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

FWIW, when I went to the second Ford dealership, I had Friends and Family plan set up. They did not want to deal with the extra paperwork, so they just beat that discount in house. They did a quick search of all F250 diesels in state, and transferred the one I wanted in (took about 2 days)...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

My only real experience with dealer adjustment was my first Accounting job out of college. Most of that job was spent auditing a large car dealership chain. The worse I saw was probably the first NSX sold in Houston. Dealer markup was about 100%. Well I guess technically I had a second...

    Possible competition?

Honestly, EREV's have some of the same problems that EV's have regarding towing (or maybe different ones technically). If you want efficiency, you go with a small generator - Scouts plan. But that is not a great solution for towing, as you would be dipping into your battery too hard with a...

    Mini scout

Basically, I have had a lot better luck with diesels than gas engines. In a perfect world, the harvester should rarely be needed. It is going to sit unused (well accept for it turning on for periodic maintenance). Leave a gas engine unused for 2 months and 50/50 if it will start. The gas...

    Mini scout

Honestly, a diesel electric hybrid might make me interested in the Harvester-it would make me a whole lot more interested than a gas electric one.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

At least with factory direct, hopefully Scout will not pull the games that Jeep has. Limited additions with such restricted availability that dealers have almost a blank check on dealer markups. Not that Ford was much better with the Raptors in the early years. Google said the recommended...

Rivian just announced new Ai chip for level 4 autonomous driving

20 years, autonomous multi-rotor could easily be starting to become the norm. Honestly, self flying is probably easier to do than self driving.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Part of me thinks this is potentially inevitable progression. EV's have perhaps started to fill their niche with current technology. Everyone has been dreaming about the next evolution of batteries, but when is it actually coming into production? If we were getting solid state batteries with...

The One-Ton Problem with Scout’s Harvester Range Extender

Well, headlines today are the killing of the Ford Lightning. But an EREV rebirth apparently is in the works - to compete with the Ram Charger, not the Scout most likely - a towing machine.

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

So, 2 of the last 4 vehicles I purchased were semi-custom. Semi as in I figured out what I wanted, then went from there. With VW, I simply found the closest equipped in stock in Texas (and had to sacrifice several options that I really miss not having now - the higher end options simply were...

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

It simply depends on what that 60k gets you. My wife's JLURD and my F250 King Ranch Diesel were both over that by a little - but you get a lot with fully loaded models. If Scout releases something that is fairly nice, allows it to be loaded with the rest of the options I might want for a...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Yes, the Traveler is a bit shorter than most "full sized" vehicles, but it is every bit as wide and I highly suspect the extra interior width is going to make it feel like full sized, even when giving us a slightly more city friendly turning radius. That extra interior width is going to make it...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

We are seeing Scouts initial offerings. In the future, perhaps they will make less expensive vehicles - but they need to set an image for the company first. It is easy to compare the Scout to a Bronco or Unlimited Wranger, but it is wider than those. It is full sized, within 1/2" of the...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I understand that Audi trim levels tend to start at a higher level than VW. I just hope Scout will offer the same options that the Audi does (at a similar price point). I want a Scout not an Audi. It should not be a problem for Scout as they are factory direct, but I found with my VW that the...

Towable Behind an RV and 3rd Row Seats

Third row seating is nice when you need it, but honestly I don't really want the Traveler to be long enough for it to be useful. I also don't want to waste the space of a folding third row. I don't know how much I would be willing to spend to flat tow - but it is a very nice feature to have...

One feature that made you pull the the trigger on a reservation….

Tempting to post a wall of text. I am not ready for the car company to remove the steering wheel (Level 4?), but I am all in for driver assist features. I hope they don't try to force me to keep my hands at 10 and 2 though. If the road is straight, I really prefer being able to keep one hand...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Will just wait and see - VW does not seem to use the 2+ term. They have IQDrive, but also Travel Assist - but both are called Level 2. But basic IQDrive has lane assist, while the newest Travel added lane centering and newest versions also control passing apparently.

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

I noticed in a different thread they are now saying Level 2 rather than 2+. Level 2 is adaptive cruise and lane assist (bumping the steering wheel if you veer out of your lane). My 8 year old F250 has that. I pray that Scout keeps Level 2+ as an option. Allow it to be disabled, allow it to...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Not sure if it is the right thread - but another tread just said the Scout will be Level 2, not 2+ driving assistance. I really, really hope that is not the case. I have level 2 already on an 8 year old truck, and do want level 2+, and VW already has it in it's stable. It could very well be...
