  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Is that yellow or gold? I'm thinking yellow but a light gold like that could actually look pretty good. Also that looks like Ouray in the background.

Great idea for a dedicated thread. I've found in the past ChatGPT struggles rendering Scouts so for fun I'm trying your prompt to see the results.. "Create a scene using this Scout Traveler in front of a ski lodge at christmas time with mountains in the background." Not bad for ChatGPT, but...

Yeah looks like the shell of another VAG product placed on top of the Scout skateboard. Normal process that sometimes results in pretty gnarly test mules like this one for the original X5.

We do know. You will have 3 settings... Auto: Will automatically charge the battery when it hits a certain threshold that you can set. EV Only: Harvester system is off Max: Stays on all the time in the event you need all the power such as when towing. You will also have Outdoor mode for...

That's positive news. Curious what variable had to be adjusted to support this.

What don't we know that would impact buying decisions? Here's what we know so far.. VW Sourced 4 cylinder NA engine Made in Mexico (likely EA211) 150mi EV range, 350mi extended range 5K tow capacity for Harvester equipped vehicles, as Keogh told Leno Outside of price I'm not sure what details...

If the cars happen to end up in the Bay Area after the event let me know, even if it's a company parking lot or lobby I'm good.

When did EREV development begin? I believe EREV came after BEV but was it near the beginning or just before the official debut? As Jamie explained, a pivot towards offering EREV first is only speculation however the numbers don't lie. Both this forum and the other forum are showing an 80% take...

The maintenance point is a good one, especially since we're not talking about a simple scooter engine like the i3 REx, this is a full on 4 cylinder car engine meaning oil changes, spark plugs, air filters, the inevitable water pump/coolant issues because VW, leaks, etc. Even if those items are...

I signed up for BEV, switched to EREV, but as time passes I don't think I need that crutch and BEV is the better choice. I'm fine if Scout delays it a year or whatever, but if my daily needs replacement in that time or before, then I'll just have to get something else.

That's just the Toyota Compact Cruiser EV shown off in 2021 along with a host of other future Toyota products, as seen back left in this pic. Important to note it's parked next to a production-ready 4th gen Tacoma that came out 2 years after this picture was taken, it's possible the Compact...

I don't know the T&C's of their EULA nor do I work at Waymo so I would defer to their website on legal responsibilities. What I do know is you can press an emergency button in the car if something goes wrong and if need be, they can remotely reroute the vehicle.

Humans aren't any better when it comes to driving through high water. Back when I lived in Texas, anytime there were heavy rains you'd see or hear about people getting stranded from driving through high water. Actually had a family member in Texas do this very thing and he was a very intelligent...
