  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I had to look this up because this is a very nuanced situation. This isn't a case of the Trump administration now allowing funds to flow because they never had the choice to begin with. Killing this program would have to be in the hands of Congress. If the Trump administration really wanted to...

As reservation holders for a car that was debuted 3 years before the on-sale date, I can understand why we'd all be upset at not seeing the truck today but this was a bigger strategic announcement. Protectionist tariffs can only help a global company like Ford so much. They either had to have...

    Terra 5th Wheel Towing?

Agreed and if I had to bet on this ability one way or another, I'd bet in favor of it taking a goose neck.

Also some reasonable all terrain tires. Let's be honest, these cars will rack up most their mileage on pavement but still need something a bit more aggressive for hitting trail heads, dirt roads, snow, etc., and those look like a good fit.

    Terra 5th Wheel Towing?

On a towing note, I've towed several trailers with our ID.4 and it's way better than with gas cars. Smooth starts with no tranny clunking as it goes into gear, having all the power/torque from a stop means effortless acceleration....honestly you have to watch yourself on acceleration otherwise...

    Terra 5th Wheel Towing?

Overall you have good logic, the main problem here is that the construction of the truck itself might not allow mounting such things in the bed. I just looked up your same question but for a Rivian. Here's what someone said... "Rivian confirmed no 5th wheel to me by email a few months ago. part...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

My point on the Porsche example is showing how even in a best case scenario to see the same special order color (a Porsche meet), it doesn't really happen meaning out in the real world the odds are even lower. At the risk of dissuading Scout from doing this, the sad reality with volume cars is...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I wouldn't worry too much about that. At least in the Porsche world you rarely see the same PTS colors side by side even at Porsche shows. Vast majority are your standard colors, some people have the slight upcharge paint colors, and only a sprinkling of PTS in there..and that's coming from a...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I'm against gate keeping. Whether everyone wants the same unique color, orders it at launch or 5 years down the road, orders it on a base model or loaded model, etc., I want everyone to have equal access to the color palette. It also means Scout can build a better business case for this program...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Exactly the kind of price I had in mind. At that number it's worth it to both Scout and the customer. Bigger picture you now have product out in the field in eye catching colors promoting the brand while the competition's color pallette is this...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

This program came about in 2019 and offered customers the ability to order their car in one of 40 heritage or unique VW Group colors for the measly price of $2,000. Just to put that into context, Porsche has the exact same program today with some of the exact same colors offered in the Spektrum...

Especially when it wasn't even done in the real world.. "In confining its driving to a private track, GM notched its milestone under ideal conditions, while other attempts were made in more real-world settings. Lucid’s record, for example, was achieved on a journey between Switzerland and...

Makes me think of the US auto industry circa 1915. You had literally hundreds of manufacturers trying to carve out a piece of a new and vast market followed by a wave of consolidation, companies going defunct, and yes a number of them emerging stronger than before. Will be interesting to watch.

Every receptacle is a potential charging station.

In a way that's how the family fleet is set up today (not counting fun cars). My gas A6 has a range of 500mi on a tank of gas and our ID.4 has a range of 255mi when charged to 100% (but more like 200 when charged to typical 80%). Audi is the road trip car, ID.4 mostly just packs on local drives...

Every receptacle is a potential charging station.

This is why I'm really looking for an EV with a range figure in the 300's. It's not because I'm driving 350mi every day, it's those unplanned events that fall outside normal charging schedules that can be problematic.

To those that have mentioned no rust on the new Scout....

Can't speak to winter testing but I'm sure they most definitely are for hot weather testing and the test tracks during the winter for on and off-road testing. Found this more recent video highlighting a new addition to the APG which is pretty cool...

To those that have mentioned no rust on the new Scout....

I imagine Scout will be using Volkswagen's Arizona Proving Grounds for hot weather testing among other things. Actually found an old video of the place when it was under Volvo/Ford ownership.
