  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Speculation - will Scout use the new EV battery announced by VW?

lol that's also true although with new oil blends like 5w50 block heaters have become less prevalent, at least here they have. Also the newer hybrids and plug-in hybrids don't use wimpy starter motors anymore, they use what is essentially a traction motor to turn the gas engine over so they...

Speculation - will Scout use the new EV battery announced by VW?

Canadian here. I've been driving EVs in Canadian winters since 2017. They work fine in the cold. The main concern is how the cabin is heated, not the battery chemistry. If the EV doesn't have a heat pump it will suffer. If it does it's usually fine. My car lives outside all winter. It goes down...

Speculation - will Scout use the new EV battery announced by VW?

My assumption is that Scout will likely wait until the PowerCo plant is producing cells in Canada before they'll be able to start production of vehicles. That probably means the two factories will likely ramp up production together so delays at PowerCo will mean delays at Scout. 90% of trade...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I haven't bought gas since 2017 and don't miss it. To answer your question, no I have no idea what current gas prices are lol I know that "filling up" my EV at home overnight costs under two bucks and that on road trips it's closer to $15 to fill up but I rarely have to wait for a charger to...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I'm not an expert in this but I have helped test new charging stations coming online and have spoken with the electricians and engineers at those sites about how it all works. Essentially no, that would not really help with reliability and would likely just make everything more expensive and...

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

I agree with this sentiment. What you experienced was One-Pedal-Driving and unfortunately Tesla comes with that on as default. Some people love it but I'm with you, it feels wrong and I prefer not having it. Luckily it's not something that is required for EVs. Hyundai (and Kia) for example give...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Been busy with life. Been running a Cub Scout Camp, had to renovate my kitchen, lots of stuff going on with life. I've been lurking here and there though. I've been around! lol

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Avgas is 100 octane but it's leaded so it won't do well in a car. Personally I reserved the BEV Traveler and am sticking to it. Zero interest in going back to anything that burns fossil juice and all the nuisance and pollution that comes with it.

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Hyundai recommends charging up to 100% once a month to help the BMS balance the battery.

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Yeah I've found Hyundai's in particular to be very good about EV range. The company tends to under-promise and over-deliver which is what you want. I see their quoted range as kind of a 'worst case' range (ie middle of a cold winter day for example). I started out like you did being conservative...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Congrats on your new ride! We almost also made the switch to the Ioniq 9 from our Ioniq 5 but couldn't make the numbers work. Our Ioniq 5 is adequate for our family needs and the 9 would be much nicer and the extra space would definitely be beneficial for us but the cost difference to make the...

    What was your first car?

My first car was a 2004 VW Golf hatchback. My first EV was a 2012 Nissan Leaf which is still going strong today with its third owner (I've since moved on to a much better EV).

What trim levels would you like to see at launch?

I think Goat trim would be better for that. We all know what the other name for mules is...

2022 Mustang Mach-E recently hit 250,000 miles. Zero problems.

This is an excellent explanation. EVs are a paradigm shift in many ways - one of them is that milage almost doesn't matter, it's more battery age than anything. Right now it's interesting to buy a used EV because most dealers are still subscribed to the "milage is everything" mentality so there...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I currently have the following in my frunk: - NACS to J1772 adapter (level 2) - NACS to CCS adapter (level 3) - Level 1 charger (J1772) - Windshield fluid - 12V booster battery pack thing (technical term, obviously) - V2L adapter - 3D printed charging port cover to turn the lights red (for...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Glad you were able to make the trip despite the nail! This has been my experience as well. I think a lot of this myth is based on people buying performance Teslas and driving them like they stole them. I get it. Going 0-60 in under 4 seconds is super fun! But driving a car like you stole it...

    solid state battery option

That's literally what Toyota's marketing strategy has been in recent years. They've been hyping mythical solid state batteries for years but only offering hybrids because they know that most people aren't informed about the state of the battery tech they can be easily duped. They know that if...

Thoughts on Long-Term Charging Plans for Overlanding and Rural Travel?

If you want a vehicle to run off solar just buy an Aptera https://aptera.us/ A big truck like a Scout is too inefficient to make a modestly-sized solar array worth it. You'd need a big one, which is fine but it's not something you'll carry around with you.

Ford announced an EREV Bronco Sport, not for the US.

Hahaha "tariff units" haha I like that. Yeah, I'm even thinking the Scout might be too big. It's certainly pushing my size limits. I'd rather something a bit smaller and more manoeuvrable.

Solid State Battery Tech for Dummies

Thanks, I'm not seeing anything about a car being launched this fiscal year or production of the car next year. Goals are one thing but aspirations aren't reality.
