  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I have a concern about the flat floor with no barrier between the driver space and the passenger space. No matter how hard one might try, keeping the passenger floor clear of items will not always be successful. It’s good to have the driver’s floor space physically separated from the passenger...

I disagree with the beginning premise of the article. Stellantis isn’t even doing gas vehicles well right now. I’ll repeat myself: the company is acting as if it were bought by a private equity firm and is being dismantled.

Yeah. I usually slow way down to avoid them because they’re also often the ones speeding along at 80-90 mph. The solution is actually very easy: For on-highway/on-road, use a WDH. Once you get off-road, swap to an articulating hitch. At low speeds, the dangers are so much lower, especially to...

Moving the battery forward some makes good sense. Can you share whether the Harvester will have an additional, separate heat pump and cooling loop from the BEV? It would make sense to me that it does, but if it doesn’t, that will further impact the towing capacity. How fun that the engineers...

They are the same. Rivian is responsible and has a TW of 500 pounds and towing of 5000 pounds without a WDH. Chevrolet apparently doesn’t care about other people on the road and uses 12% instead of 10% so their advertised tongue limit is 600 pounds and 5000 pounds towing without a WDH. That’s...

Oh, no, it wouldn’t be cheap to do. And at some point the brakes would need to be beefed up, which is the point I stop being interested in increasing towing capacity. When you start messing with direct safety equipment, it’s time to just buy a vehicle that’s designed by the experienced engineers...

Since you put in a question mark, I'll answer the question. ;) It's "moment arm." A “moment" is the product of a distance and force. In our case, the force is weight of the Harvester and the distance is how far aft of the rear axle is the center is mass of the Harvester genset mounted.

In general a WDH is needed if the weight of the trailer is more than about 50% of the GVWR of the tow vehicle. In practice, for a light duty truck like the Lightning or Terra, they'll say you must use a WDH when the trailer weighs more than 5k pounds. Example: ALL F-150s have a maximum...

:) To be sure, this is a simplification and there are a bunch of additional factors that weigh in. It’s just a starting place to understand why the Harvester might have lower rated towing capacity than the BEV. The reality is that what a vehicle is physically capable of towing is often very...

Payload doesn’t care about weight distribution (much). If you put 300 extra pounds of genset, cooling, etc. anywhere into the Harvester model, your available payload decreases by 300 pounds. You could put it all under the frunk or between the axles or hanging off the rear end (this is when...

Scout Traveler and Terra Photo Collections and Wallpapers

For me, they’re pretty but not useable. The first thing I do is put rubberized trays in the driver and front passenger foot wells (and usually the rear as well) so I’m not stepping on carpet. I don’t want something pretty under my muddy, greasy, wet boots. If they offered something in...

As I understand it, on the BEV, 33” and smaller tires would fit under the rear of the Traveler. I don’t see any need for a 35” tire for my uses. While I do enjoy off-roading, I have never needed more than a 32” tire to do the kind of off-roading I do. The backpack appears to be smaller than...

I fully expect Scout to get 350 miles on the BEV. That’s such a well-known number by now that they have to have a trim that gets at least 350 miles or they will disappoint everybody. I think this is likely more important than base price. Can they get 400 miles? Absolutely. How much money do...
