  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The CCJ conflates carjackings and vehicle thefts in several of their reports. The “large increase” of “91%” that the CCJ claims is based on 6.1 incidents per 100,000 people in 2019 to 11.7 incidents per 100,000 people in 2023. It’s easy to get a large increase when the numbers are so low. A...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

We own two BEVs: A 2022 Mustang Mach-E, California Route 1 Extended Range AWD A 2023 F-150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range AWD We have almost 80,000 miles on the two vehicles combined. We do long road trips at least once a month, and have racked up somewhere around 35k-40k miles of overnight...

I think there are legitimate fears some people have in various situations. I’m not going to question a particular person’s experiences nor the validity of their fears. That said, these kinds of devices manufacture fear in exchange for your money and brain power. Save your money.

New Harvester Info from LA Auto Show

I wouldn’t take anything from an on-the-spot interview as a 100% accurate fact. It’s really, really (embarrassingly easy—ask me how I know) easy to misspeak during an interview when you are tired, not perfectly prepared, have done thirty of the same interview that day, etc., etc., etc...

Is there anything that would make you switch from the BEV to the EREV?

I was trying to parse that comment. Thanks for following up.

October 2025 Scout Motors Production Center Update

Seems to be missing *visible, corded* BEV chargers. Let’s over-interpret: Scout is going to have induction charging standard and will include one induction charger for the home with every purchase.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Also, if it’s very cold where your car is charging, it’s possible you will use more charge than I estimated and your car won’t charge up as much overnight in the very cold, so you might be better off with an L2. And recovering from a long trip is quite a bit quicker with an L2.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Totally. We have three for two cars...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Simplified math: L1 charging means 1% per hour on a 120 kWh battery. So you need 100 hours of charging to get 100% recharge on a 120 kWh battery. Assuming 12 hours of charging overnight for 7 nights, that’s 84 hours. You need an additional 16 hours distributed throughout the week to recover...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I’m guessing you mean three miles round trip? Let’s expand it to 25 miles daily driving for any reason, five days a week. And you drive 75 miles on Saturday and 75 miles on Sunday. Assume you don’t drive aggressively. Assume the vehicle gets the top-end of the EPA range estimate for around town...

I think a wider space in the passenger footwell is entirely reasonable and easily attainable even with a small ridge between the driver and passenger footwells.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Here’s what the front bench seat in the Tundra looked like when they had it. They got rid of it, presumably because not enough people bought that option. This isn’t my photo, but we had one in our Tundra. It was great. Especially since it allowed me and my spawn to sleep in the cabin when we...

Is there anything that would make you switch from the BEV to the EREV?

If Scout canceled the BEV, I’d cancel my reservation. There’s only negative value in a gas-fed vehicle for me. I’ve been all over the western US—where fast charging stations are not nearly as densely-packed as in the east—and have had fewer issues finding “fuel” for our EVs than when we...

Yes. It’s nearly identical in size to the F-150, including the Lightning.

@cyure, you might also post a companion question to this thread: “What would make you switch from BEV to EREV?” My answer is, “I’d rather ride my bicycle.”

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I'm trying to pipe down a bit so others can speak up. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with fossil fuels and the massive inconveniences they create for most of my use-cases. I have just two more engines to get rid of (diesel tractor and gas chainsaw). My experiences with BEVs have me ready to...

Scout Concepts At LA Auto Show, November 21-30, 2025

There’s definitely a compromise. First, there’s no need for a transmission “hump,” so that concern really does go away; Second, the separation could be relatively close to where the driver’s footwell begins, leaving approximately 2/3 of the space for the passenger(s).

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I often have meetings out of town and when I drive, the meeting location often has an outlet I can plug into. If I’m there for 8 hours, I can get 8 hours*1.2 kW = 9.6 kWh of charge per day. For a 3-day meeting, that’s 28.8 kWh, or 22% of my Lightning battery and 31% of my Mustang battery...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

I spent the weekend finally installing the electrical and connecting my partner’s hot tub. When we moved, three years ago, there were just too many things to do and she kept telling me that the hot tub wasn’t a priority. Well, we celebrated a major birthday recently and my gift for her birthday...
