  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

    They’re fantastic on the Lightning.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I still need another year of slowly finishing and cleaning up the workshop before I can even begin to contemplate such a project.

Not a huge fan of the sexism, but the rest of this advertisement from the 1910s rings just as true today.

That particular brand or EVs from the 1900s-1930s? They were more popular than internal combustion in the early 20th century. But lead-acid batteries weren’t conducive to longer-distances. One of my low-on-the-list projects is that I want to hide my modern charger in a replica from the 1920s...

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

I’ve lost track of where I said it. I rarely do 500+ mile trailering road trips, so for the few times that I do, it’s worth the extra stop or two and slight extra inconvenience to have the Lightning. I’ve never dropped my trailer on any trailering trip, including the 500+ mile ones. There is...

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

Oh, I wouldn’t say that. But have you ever noticed that the LLM ais know everything about everything except the thing you’re an expert in? Then they seem to be weirdly wrong about nearly everything in that topic… Makes you go, “hmmm.”

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

These are DCFC chargers listed in the national database, irrespective of their accessibility. The best way to do a more specific filter is to use A Better Route Planner or PlugShare. Those apps allow you to filter on things such as “trailer friendly.” You can plan your potential routes using...

    HVAC for rooftop tent

When we need to stay warm while camping, we run an extension cord from the Lightning and run a couple of electric blankets we put into our sleeping bags.

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

Here’s a map of DCFC chargers with a location within Missouri (pins) and a 100 km (62 mile) driving distance heat map to those chargers. In other words, for each charger, I plotted a 100 km driving distance from that charger. This is not straight-line distance, this is along a road distance...

What accessories would the supplier park install?

The varying state laws about window tinting are a mess. It would surprise me if Scout chose to deal with that; this is best left to local experts, IMO.

Wait. I thought @J Alynn had one in his garage for a few weeks for testing?! ;)

Scout Concepts At LA Auto Show, November 21-30, 2025

I live on a 2-mile gravel road and am off-highway (forest service roads) almost every other weekend. Dust happens. I don’t own a gassy vehicle anymore, but when we did, we had to replace the air filter more regularly than typical. You’ll still have to do that if you get the Harvester. I’m...

5klbs towing cap with gas range extender?

There’s a lot of heartache across the forum about this. And probably more in the engineers’ offices. They can’t give actual numbers until they’ve run the vehicles through the SAE J2807 standards. There are several reasons for possibly lower tow capacity in the Harvester. None of these are...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

It shouldn't be an issue for running around town. Even the 200 miles or so round trip to Chicago won’t cause you problems most days. On really bad weather days, it might feel better to charge in Chicago while doing the things you need to do there. But locally? You very likely won’t notice it. It...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

I get that some people have use cases for a vehicle that isn’t electric. I tow, haul, do “truck stuff,” and work on the ranch with the Lightning all the time. I don’t have a boat or travel trailer, but have towed my tractor to job sites out of town and haul water. The few times I’ve done...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

I haven’t had time to look this year. Just trying to keep a paycheck coming in. Some were looking to demonstrate ore refinement in low earth orbit. But they really messed up by not asking for expertise from NASA scientists and engineers and lost control of their spacecraft. They learned an...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

It really is very bad. Just because billionaires don’t care and have never cared about anyone else doesn’t mean the problem isn’t real. They’re just rich enough the believe they’ll never have to face the consequences. Rockets don’t contribute a lot to the total greenhouse gas emissions. The...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

It's unfortunate that you to choose to misunderstand the science. You could learn a lot by engaging with real scientists. The science that enables your phone/computer to work and your F-150 to work (chemistry and physics) is the exact same science that enables us to understand how burning...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

I took the question here to mean, “would you give up your EV for a Scout Harvester?” The other question to me was more, “what could convince you to switch your reservation from BEV to Harvester.” While related, I don’t think they’re the same question. The general, worldwide population has a...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Yeah, it’s similar in the southwest and west coast / pacific northwest. There are, of course, some in weird places. But in the hundreds of DCFC charging sessions my partner has done, many alone, she has only considered one location to be too sketch. She moved on to another charging station. The...
