  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Scout Supply Merchandise Live

I'm not an OG. But I'm a reasonable man. I can manage with only a 20% discount on my Scout. And AFAIK, silence is acceptance right? So if I don't hear back from Scout, that means they have accepted my offer? ;)

    Scout Supply Merchandise Live

I've been wondering if this is the actual "gift" item. Since the gift is going out to all scout reservation holders (isn't it up to 200k now)? It would be cool to have a smaller subset of stuff go out to active forum members, but that seems unlikely.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

This sucks. Sorry man. I mean, the good Samaritan part is good, but ugh, the rest. And very glad it didn't go worse. I grew up riding dirt bikes (also minibikes, the little briggs/stratton powered steel framed gizmos with turf tamer tires, and a centrifugal clutch/1 brake). And my current...

    A Gift From Scout Motors

Have to post this. If you know, you know (love this webcomic, been checking it for over 15 years).

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I was actually talking about this just the other day with someone else. I'd agree though, I think we're about into the early majority phase somewhere. And I think the manufacturers are seeing that as well. Hence many brands going back to "more buttons" and "the vehicle just looks and feels...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I did the same. And considering we are doing math based on ballpark efficiency numbers as stand ins for real numbers. I’d say that being in the same ballpark is pretty good. More than one way to skin a cat and all that :).

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

The lowest MPG I’ve ever seen for a vehicle I drove myself, is about 4.7mpg if memory serves. A 2006 F150 with a V6. It was towing a dual axle trailer, and had a bed full of gear, and a cab full of people. Started in Denver, and was towing that up over Loveland pass, to grand junction. I had...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Wow. 2mpg is bad. Like, almost not believably low. I can’t recall hearing anything with near that bad of mpg coming out in ages. Does your buddy have an incredible lead foot? Or like… tow uphill, everywhere?

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

Assuming those 270 miles were for your 3 mile round trip commute, and you never went more than 150 miles in a stretch, the harvester and the BEV version would be exactly the same. Assuming a worst case efficiency of about 2 miles per kWh, your 270 miles of driving would use 135kwh of...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

This was why when I saw we could buy the Ioniq 9 for the same price as a grand Highlander or Palisade, it was a no brainer to go with the EV. Our combination of cheap electricity and pretty expensive fuel is like the perfect situation. And a used 3 row suv like a Honda Pilot or a Palisade or...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

FWIW, I’ve had my EV for about 3 months now. We’ve done 2170 miles so far. Our vehicle is an Ioniq 9, which is really quite similar in dimensions to the new Hyundai Palisade, or the Toyota Grand Highlander. We’ve charged 100% at home so far. Our electricity is cheap here ($0.10263 per kWh)...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

I have a 3500w generator I use in power outages. It only does 120v x 30amps, and I use a TT-30 to LR14-30R adapter to plug it into the house through my transfer switch. And when it does this, only one leg is hot, so I have to turn off all my 240v outlets. It sounds like you have the same thing...

    A Gift From Scout Motors

No email yet for me. Also, are we going to start guessing what it is? And is this different for forum members that are active, or for everyone with a reservation? Because that changes things a bit I’ll start: Monogrammed carhart beanies, with the forum names of each member in it? Scout...

October 2025 Scout Motors Production Center Update

Lol. Its true! As it happens I used to live not horribly far away in NC (Greenville NC) when I was a kid. And I do remember it snowing a few times. But I was mostly talking about in away from the rain. I'm sure everyone working on the inside, while the exterior was still going up, is a bit...

October 2025 Scout Motors Production Center Update

I imagine that everyone working on it this winter is going to be really happy about the whole "its finally enclosed from the elements" part of what I'm seeing :D. And the supplier park is now on the map, thats big news too. Was the land already prepped for that? Or is that new grading/etc that...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Its because it what it does mean, isn't something that you could say in polite conversation. Which means, you probably found the correct definition :P. Its when "Poo Hits The Fan", so to speak. And to the original question, I still really think for me its price, actual real world range, and...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I hear you there. My yearly road trip takes us through rural WA/OR/ID/UT, and if we take the other route, a bit of Montana as well. And that is one of my concerns. Sometimes there are no services (of any kind) for quite a long time. But of those services, so far, you're still more likely to...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

We don’t know for sure, but I’d be very skeptical that we will see efficiency numbers that high on the highway (at least at around 70mph). I have an Ioniq 9, which is ballpark similar in size to the scouts. It sits between the traveler and terra in length, is a touch narrower, and is way lower...

    Plug in hybrid.

Thanks Jamie! So "ECO" mode will be the same idea as the "EV" drive mode on my Hyundai Tucson PHEV. It will prioritize staying in EV mode at all costs... until it cannot. Small question though. Given all of the parameters, it seems like Nav input would be among the most crucial, to know if...
