  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

The same thing happened with my 2019 Golf. It was designed for 3G. When the tech is sunsetted, it ends. I received a letter from VW a few months ago saying they had given up trying to find an upgrade solution. It happens with most systems. Onstar is over 25 years old and dead in older GM...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

My 2019 Golf R has them. Great car, not bougie.😉

    Size comparison

Several manufacturers (VW included) offer remote parking assistance with an app for parking in tight spaces. It would be a useful feature for Scout.

    Off Road Performance

All we know is an independent front suspension, solid rear axle, available air suspension + sway bar disconnect.

Do you think we will see a Travelette (Long Bed Heavy Duty)?

That's Chris Benjamin in these photos (for anyone wondering).

    Unconventional spokesperson…

Joel McHale would be someone to approach. He owns an ICON FJ43 and bought his wife a restomod 1970 IH Scout 800A. He is interested in EVs, too. He has owned a Tesla Model X and likes Rivians. https://www.motortrend.com/features/inevitable-vodcast-podcast-episode-68-actor-comedian-joel-mchale

    Service Center

This is what was reported in an Automotive News article about Scout: The first 25 locations will be in 16 major markets, from New York to Miami and Seattle to San Diego. The 25 locations will either be Scout Studios, where customers shop and interact with a sales adviser, or Scout Workshops...

    Service Center

It doesn't mean Scout doesn't have a plan. We know they will have service centers. It was discussed when they were introduced to the public back in October. What we don't know are the locations. Scout also never ruled out using a third party for service. They have two years to announce and set...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

It sounds like the main issue is with the recirculating ball steering and how it's set up. https://www.thedrive.com/car-reviews/2024-ineos-grenadier-steering

What's the main issue? Is it having to disconnect the motors so they don't overheat?

    Off Road Performance

FJ production ended only 3 years ago. I have no doubt people will be importing them 20 years from now.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Bollinger is close to liquidation. It would be cool if someone bought the rights to the B1/B2 and finished developing them.

    Combustion Engine

Electricity generated by coal, nuclear, and hydro are also subsidized by the government. And solar and wind are also subsidized by the government. It seems like all energy is subsidized by the US Goverment in some way. Pick your poison.

    Combustion Engine

Nothing I said was misleading. I'm demonstrating why some Americans don't think an EV is right for them. No one in my family or peer group is interested in an EV for the reasons I stated. Long highway drives are a reality for many Americans. Until EVs can match or surpass ICE for range and...

    Combustion Engine

Electric fuel savings are real, but only if you charge at home. If you are dependent on high-speed charging, the savings evaporate. Car and Driver road tripped a Rivian: "Our most extreme road trip was a 24-hour run from our Michigan office to IMSA's 24-hour endurance race at Daytona...

And I'm not denying those figures. But I think the United States is more of an anomaly than the rest of the world. Gasoline is cheaper here than many industrialized countries. EV's are still More expensive up front. Lots of people look at a monthly payment and don't think about long-term costs...
