  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Assembly Line Logistics

Seems like a good way for VW to set the stage for changing the auto industry through their smaller, more specialized brands.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Agreed. Chassis tuning would be a lot simpler with a similar weight. 90KWh of battery weighs 1,000+lbs though. The 6.2L V8 in my sedan weighs 400lbs, and I have to suspect the peripherals supporting it weigh less than 600lbs. With a notably smaller ICE in the Harvester, I'm curious what...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I think I'd rather have the smaller battery and lower curb weight if the Harvester can provide enough juice to the battery. Less weight to lug around lets the electrons move the truck farther.

    Gas Powered Range Extender

You bring up an interesting point. What's the take-rate of the Harvester option in California? You've got vastly superior charging infrastructure than a lot of the country. If Scout didn't get CARB approval, would it just affect Harvester sales in CA, or the other states that have adopted...

    Real-World Range

I don't think Scout is required to advertise the EPA ratings, they just can't advertise better-than-EPA-ratings. Nothing should be stopping them from advertising their own, more conservative numbers, and this could be used as an ad campaign against other EV manufacturers advertising inflated...

    Assembly Line Logistics

I'm not looking to go that crazy with concierge-level service, I just want options to be stand-alone options that I can check on the order sheet. If a certain combination of options isn't available, a pop-up would inform me of this and I'd make some choices. I understand the round headlight...

    Assembly Line Logistics

Disclaimer: I don't have any working knowledge of how the assembly line process and supply chain works in the newest, most modern factories, hence the question. I've watched automotive assembly lines running with a truck, an SUV, etc all running down the line in random order. With most...

    Single Touch Window Controls

That's a lot cheaper way to drop cabin temp by 40-degrees in the summer instead of relying on the battery to run the A/C for you! I've loved this feature on past cars, but also being able to put all windows up via remote in case a storm rolls in.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

It's okay, you can just admit you're crowd-sourcing ideas from us in an effort to keep engineering costs lower. :ROFLMAO: Just throw a vague statement out here and there, and let us do our thing!

More lift, less lift, or just right.

That makes customization really hard if you're adding comms, lighting, upgraded stereo, etc without making your own 12v system. If we're just talking about for winching, a higher voltage would make a LOT of sense since the high-amp draw doesn't play well with any 12v systems.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Once you remove peripherals not needed in this case, it gets even cheaper and the space needed gets smaller. No alternator needed, no A/C compressor needed, no stupid plastic covers hiding all the working bits, no power steering pump needed (though most cars are electric now anyway), heck, I...

More lift, less lift, or just right.

If 35" tires give me 12" of ground clearance with decent travel up front, (minus the pumpkin), I don't see a need to lift it. With the independent front, I want to keep the arms at their ideal geometry and not limit my down-travel by lifting it. So long as it has factory frame mounting points...

So what if Volkswagen dealers win and stop direct sales?

Absolutely I'll buy in a VW or any other VAG dealership as I don't have the option for direct sales. My local VW dealer was good with my two TDIs, even during the Dieselgate buyback. BMW did well using their existing dealerships when they launched MINI, and just partitioned off a small corner...

    Rear Window

I know my FJ struts are fine at 90mph with no issues and the glass is rock solid at speed.

    Rear Window

Basic issues: --Due to the angle of the rear window within the hatch, there's no practical way to have it slide down into the hatch without redesigning the whole shape of the rear. --Due to the spare tire carrier latch being attached to the hatch, the hatch can't be left open with the tailgate...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

He's hoping it can replenish the battery at the same rate driving down the highway depletes it so the battery level doesn't drop.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

There isn't room for a vertical engine between the trunk floor height and the underside of the vehicle. Turning an inline-3 or 4 sideways only works if you have the crankcase/oil pan underneath which is likely too much engineering effort when they've already got flat-4 and flat-6 engines...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I hope Scout gives us the option to access electrical diagrams and factory service manuals so that we can work on our own vehicles if desired. Being able to order parts without having to go through Service would also be helpful. They hinted at being very serviceable, and I hope that stays true.

Direct Sales - Dealership can stay mad!

The dealer groups in NC have a LOT of lobbying power with the state, and they're the reason we can't have nice things...

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

I've got to throw another vote in for an operable rear window on the Traveler. I use my SUV like a truck, and often have long items sticking out the back window. While a roll-down window like the 4Runner would be great, I don't see it being practical with the tailgate. The spare poses a...
