  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    E Axle Brand Poll

I have a Currie / Ford 9" semi-float rear axle in my Wrangler with chromoly axle shafts. It is rated for 37" tires although I could probably put 40's on it and be OK. I'd say the 3 reasons that come to mind immediately that the D60 would be more desirable - it is full float, the ring gear is...

    E Axle Brand Poll

Generally speaking, Dana has been providing solid axles for trucks and Jeeps for decades, and has built a track record of solid engineering, capability and reliability with their D30, D44, D60, D70 & D80 axles. For example, the Dana 60 is widely considered to be an ideal axle for a passenger...

    Off Road Performance

I went to WCU, had a lot of friends at App.

    E Axle Brand Poll

Haha. What I SHOULD have said: If I were a betting man, my money says that Dana will provide at least the rear axle.

    E Axle Brand Poll

    100% it will be Dana.

    Questions about the Harvester

I predict that if Scout is listening to the reservation holders, the Harvester will be produced and delivered concurrently or even before the all electric models. There are, after all, 4 EREV reservations for every 1 BEV. If I have two products and one of them looks like it's going to sell 4x...

    Sound suppression

I have a bare metal tub, cracked exhaust manifold and no top or doors on my YJ, with the 4.0 and MTRs. It is capable of driving on the highway, but that is not exactly a pleasant experience.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Not sure exactly as I still have not bothered to take it to the scales. But my guess is around 5,600lb.

DC Input for Portable Solar Panels

One of the things I really thought was cool about the Fisker Ocean was it's solar roof. I certainly don't want to associate Fisker with Scout in any way lol but that roof purportedly could provide 1,500-2,000 miles per year worth of charge, given the right conditions. We're in Arizona so the...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I'm not a pickup truck guy. It's Traveler Harvester or bust, for me.

How about a cheap version that i can actually take offroad

The "cheap" gas version for under $25k you can take off road is going to be a mid-late '70's Scout II, although probably very few are out there under that price. So, it's an old Jeep CJ, YJ or TJ. If you've got $25k to spend on either of those, you can get a REALLY nice one.

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

100% agree. I also am not currently interested in a pure EV and do not expect to be at any point in the next several years, so will not be switching my reservation from Harvester to Traveler. My interest in a Traveler Harvester is for the benefit of EV on my daily 52 mile round trip commute...

What do you all do? Curious about Scout buyers occupations, or former occupations.

SVP at a boutique employee benefits firm. I distribute group health plans and other employee benefits through insurance brokers to clients typically with 10,000-75,000 employees. 18 years in that industry plus 7 in finance before that. I work in an office all week, and I like to get dirty...

Manual Control of 4x4 system instead of silly GOAT like modes

Regarding motive power and differential lockers: My Wrangler has an Atlas II transfer case and independently selectable ARBs front and rear. This enables 2wd front, 2wd rear and 4wd. Further, it enables locked front / open rear, locked rear / open front or both axles locked. I would love...

    Walkabout Mode (Safety Feature)

Yep, several guys I know in the wheeling community carry SPOT devices. I've even seen it used on the trail to summon a medevac to the middle of nowhere, miles from cell service.

Jerry Cans + Harvester Range Extender

I always preferred a Super Siphon. Eliminates the need to even take the jerry can / racing jug out of the mounts.

Should There Be an EV "Tax Penalty"?

Yay! I'm in Arizona where I pay no additional taxes for EV. Yay!

Your state’s 24 hours in a day in the life of a Scout adventure

Scout Traveler, Arizona. I mentioned this in another thread that seems to have been deleted, but I'll take the Traveler up the Back Way to Crown King, which is an approx 30 mile one way off road trip with one mandatory rock garden and several optional obstacle sections. The trail starts at...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

That job listing states it is for the generator and inverter, not the engine. Scott Keogh has publicly stated in interviews that the engine will be an existing 4 cyl gasoline engine and while he would not say specifically which 4 cyl, he told some of the interviewers that with their background...

    Driving Distance Poll

I've got a daily round trip commute of 52 miles, my office building has free EV charging and I'm almost always here earlier in the morning than anyone else. Free charging twice a week while I'm at work for example would get me by on a Traveler Harvester. But I need to be able to tow my old...
