  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

That math is correct. And you have incredibly cheap gas! While considering an electric truck, I calculated, before we installed solar, that gas would have to go below $0.60/gallon before the Tacoma would cost less in daily driving than the Lightning. I find it useful to think in dollars per...

    Most common bolt size

Reading the full question would have been helpful... I guess it depends on the gift specifics. I wouldn’t stop at a single socket/wrench, though. I’d get a Craftsman toolkit that has all the mentioned wrenches or sockets. Not because I think Craftsman is the best, but because I think a lot of...

    Most common bolt size

I don’t know about the most common. And I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I would make sure I had a full set of tools. I wouldn’t even approach a job on a classic US-made vehicle without a full set of wrenches and sockets (at least one of each of a socket, open and closed box wrench). Even if...

Dunno. This was a while ago and I never tried again. Things may have changed?

Luxury features I would like to See

Exactly this. The only similarity between Scout and Rivian, besides the general EV offering is that VW has a license and tech sharing agreement with Rivian for zonal architecture. Not even the wheels. Our cross-shopping includes the R2 (we would prefer a smaller SUV) or a used 2026+ R1S...

    2 door Terra option

In the past, I have been told by multiple dealers that I could not order the truck I actually wanted. I had to take what was on the lot or wait and hope what I wanted would arrive. I called corporate and they couldn't help me.

Luxury features I would like to See

Well said. Scout’s direction to-date seems to be to make a vehicle that will appeal to a lot of different people. If I can afford a Scout, I won’t be buying some of the more luxury features, but I wouldn’t begrudge anyone buying them. I don’t mind driving a vehicle that carries the same name as...

    2 door Terra option

But are the bigger trucks dominating because of consumer preferences or because of manufacturer preferences? We know the bigger trucks have higher profit margins. I know I’ve been pushed toward the bigger engine, bigger cab, etc., for every truck I’ve ever bought from a dealer.

With microinverters much lower in price these days, and the ability to automatically and immediately shut off the power generation of the solar kit in case of a power outage, these should be easy to make safe. I've seen these all over Germany and other EU member states. I hope we can get these...

One feature that made you pull the the trigger on a reservation….

Great question. I don’t believe almost anything coming out of Stellantis with regards to their BEV future. So it’s difficult for me to plan on it existing. If it’s something that exists when we’re ready to buy, it’ll go onto the list.

I like green, but that kind of green doesn't appeal to me at all. I would prefer the current boxy Land Cruise styling too.

    Off-topic stuff…

I’m not a Miami peep, but we had a flight delayed for more than a day in MIA once and so we went to the Everglades. I’d go back for the Everglades several times before I’d take a tour of the city.

I don’t think I’ve ever answered this thread. BEV Direct to Consumer Likely to have true off-road chops We’re still cross-shopping. It takes us years to buy a vehicle, so we start cross-shopping when we’re about halfway through the ownership of the vehicle the new one will replace. We’re...

ICE To EV. 2019 Tundra to 2023 F150 Lightning Lariat.

I just noticed you have the Goodyears. They have a higher pressure recommendation than the Hankooks I have. I’m sure 45 PSI will be fine.

    Snow load

Another question is how to safely remove snow from a cabana roof. We get large snow storms that can leave 1-2 feet in a day. The law is that we have to remove snow off the top of our vehicles before driving on public streets. How do you do that safely with a soft top? I have only ever had one...

ICE To EV. 2019 Tundra to 2023 F150 Lightning Lariat.

Congrats! What a fun trip! Charger: You’re going to use an adapter regardless of whichever L2 charger connection you get. I, personally, would get the J1772 plug because that’s the vehicle you have right now. If you get a vehicle with a NACS port, you can make a choice at that point. But...

Fantastic! I sometimes feel like a fanboi about the Lightning. But I’m not a brand loyalist. It’s just difficult not to love the Lightning. I know it’s imperfect, but it’s still the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.
