  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

If it was all-electric (and wasn’t a Stellantis POJ), we would probably end up with it. It’s too bad both Toyota and Honda have shoved their heads so far up their own.... The minivan is the most under-rated utility vehicle out there. And adding some clearance to it would make it even more useful.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

That was similar to my Tacoma. Supposedly it could get 18, but I was always using it as a truck with loads in the bed and/or towing. My average was 12 mpg. When I was towing, it was 6-8 mpg. Going from that to the Lightning, which doesn’t notice stuff in the bed was/is amazing. The Lightning...

I mean, that’s kind of the point of hybrids though, right? To be a stepping stone. A couple of points to remember: 1) You used the hybrid for however long and while you did, you gained benefits from it, including cost savings. 2) The sale/transfer of your hybrid to someone else will keep it...

    Copy-paste. I’m lazy.

    Recline flat rear bench

I’m only talking about the frame, not the horrifyingly awful mattress of a futon.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

The NYTimes has an article where they estimate the costs to drive an EV, hybrid, and gas vehicle in each state. This necessarily deals in averages, so it’s not very accurate for any individual, but — assuming they use accurate inputs and assumptions — is accurate for the conglomeration of...

    Recline flat rear bench

Sounds like what’s really desired is a multi-directional futon-like frame for the rear seats.

Battle Star Galactica? I always thought of that as grey, not green.

Package options - what would you like bundled?

Sure. But they include in their calculations a driver and passenger who each weight 150 pounds as standard expectation. (I haven’t weighed 150 pounds since I was in high school, so I don’t know who is driving these vehicles, but whatever.) They don’t include more than the driver and one...

Package options - what would you like bundled?

On the F-250, the XL and XLT have a 40/20/40 bench seat standard. On the Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum, 40/console/40 are standard with an option for a bench on the Lariat. The max recline seats are optional on Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum and standard on the Platinum Plus. But you can’t...

Package options - what would you like bundled?

I think I’m lost in what you’re trying to say. I think bench vs other seat types is very unlikely to change weight capacities. That’s what I read your original post about this to suggest: that a bench seat would change payload. The seat type (bench vs captain; manual vs 10 position; leather...

Package options - what would you like bundled?

I don’t think it’s a payload or any other weight capacity decision; I think it’s a “luxury” decision. Captain's chairs have been the top level of “luxury” in the US for a few decades. They still advertise them as something to be desired. So when manufacturers include a bench seat, it’s meant as...

Package options - what would you like bundled?

The 2012 Tundra we used to own had a bench and its GVWR was higher than the Platinum version without the bench.

I would never get there. I spent years and years training my typing speed. First on a mechanic typewriter, then on an electric typewriter, and finally on various keyboards. Until I injured a nerve in my hand ten years ago, I could type at around 100-120 WPM. I’m a bit slower not because the...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I will often turn off 1PD if I need to back up at low speeds in a sensitive space or if I need to control coasting at low speeds. In the Ford, there’s a bit of an “activation energy” to overcome before the vehicle starts to move while in 1PD, and at low speeds, this can be weird to manage...

Package options - what would you like bundled?

I really think this is the right cross-shopping for the Terra. The other comparison is the Silverado/Sierra EV truck. I know some will cross-shop the R1T, but there are compromises (in both directions) to that comparison.
