  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    3rd row option

One bit of bonus for the Scout is that its frunk should be big enough to hold some of that luggage.

It’s real. It’s as stupid as it sounds.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Yeah. Hesitation or loss of focus is a big cause of losing control on a curve while riding a motorcycle. Yeah, that’s definitely a “point source” kind of “failure.” I’m sorry this happened. :( Fun!

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

We have done one 900+ mile trip in one day with an EV, so not quite a MI to CO length. It was a long day, but we were far, far less tired when we got to our hotel than when we did similar trips in our gas vehicles. The stop to charge makes long drives better, in my opinion, because they break up...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

My point is less about once you have the EV and more about the way it makes it look like it’s much more difficult to take a road trip in an EV. I actually don’t even use ABRP anymore. I will sometimes use it like I would use Google Maps, but usually I just use Google Maps. I’ve always mapped...

Tucson has an ordinance that requires rescuees to pay for rescues if they passed a sign that warned of flooded roads. That said, the issue is less about the stupidity of humans—of which we have an endless supply—and more about the unpredictability of automated driving. A human making the...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I’ve found that ABRP is both conservative and pessimistic. First: They assume you have 5% degradation of your battery, even if it’s brand new. That means they’re planning on your overall trip taking up to 5% longer. For a 12-hour trip, that’s an extra 36 minutes. Second: They don’t respect...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

My median road trip time to charge is 20-25 minutes. And it’s only this long because I don’t bother to “optimize” time spent at the charger while I’m eating. Of the quite literally hundreds of DCFC charges on road trips, I have had one or two with 40+ minute charge times, but those are very...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Nah, brother. We don't do shame for things like this. One way I've put it to people before: On a bike, you have to ride in the right part of the moment. It takes all of your attention and all of your senses to keep your mind on the road at the middle distance. You have to look just far enough...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Great reflexes! Almost more important than being able to see... Oh, that’s not good. I hope it heals without complications. One of the best things for my mental health was my motorcycle. If it weren’t getting colder here, I’d consider taking it out for a ride a few more times. That said, I...

I believe the new ChargePoints are going to be a slightly different design (larger individual modules, fewer modules to get to 600 kW). But overall this, as described, is one of the biggest issues with reliability. Another is that higher amperage means higher heat generation, which means lower...

    Off-topic stuff…

This is the air-fuel mixture equivalence ratio that describes how well the fuel will burn based on the actual air-fuel mixing ratio before it’s injected into the combustion chamber compared with the ideal (stoichiometric) ratio.

The one with 1/2mv^2 + mgh +… = integral F_engine ds is the work-energy theorem for an ICE vehicle. 1/2 mv^2 is the kinetic energy mgh is the gravitational potential energy The integral of F_drag ds is the energy required to move the vehicle through air resistance over a distance (s). The...

    Test drive options

It wouldn’t make sense for them to limit a test drive to only one person. They’re going to want to get everyone they can to test drive their vehicles. And they really, really only want people who love the vehicles to buy them in the first year. They don’t want anyone having regrets publicly...

    Off-topic stuff…

There’s ALWAYS been math in F1. I’d love to be able to read those equations… edit: I can read one: Q_fuel = W_brake + Q_coolant + Q_exhaust + Q_friction + Q_unaccounted This equation describes where the energy in the fuel goes. The only useful energy use is the work done: W_brake (the energy...

    FB find of the day

It’s not specific to EVs. But they tend to have more “aerodynamic wheels” that reduce drag by a bit. Those more closed-off wheels are just more difficult to clean and tend to accumulate more gunk on the inside of the wheel. And out-of-sight, out-of-mind. Car washes don’t tend to do a good job...

    FB find of the day

I really like that wheel. But... I suspect they will collect mud and get out of balance very quickly. For the wheels on the Lightning, I have to take them off and power wash them to get ride of the shimmy caused by them being out of balance. These could be similarly problematic. I’d still use...
