  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Waiting for Scout, I leased an Ioniq 5. Here are things I'd like to Improve and as they relate to Scout Terra or Traveler

Agree with #14. I want walk-away door locks everywhere but at home. Tesla does do this. That way I don't have to have my phone or key fob when I want to just go our to load or unload the car. But I rabidly disagree with #15. The last thing I want to do when I'm coming out of somewhere with...

Former Rivian R1S owner, almost twice. Can’t wait for the Scout

According to the OP they gave them another chance and struck out again. I don't have any experience w/ Rivian but from what I read they are following Tesla's playbook almost exactly. The early Teslas were all hand-built and perfect with Elon personally inspecting every car that went out the...

Motors, Control Arms and Ground Clearance

This is the double-edged sword of being an early adopter. They can't have test drives until the vehicles exist. We were in the same boat with the Tesla Model S back in 2012. They had an event at the factory where we got to go on a tour and test drive the release candidate vehicles, but they...

Every performance number quoted by any manufacturer is based on ideal circumstances. Perfect weather, perfect (heated) tires, perfect surface, 1-foot rollout, etc, etc, etc. EV makers should fund the highest altitude dragstrip in the world and do all of their testing there. Thin air doesn't...

On an EV it is a completely pointless gimmick. There is no reason that max power cannot be available at all times. You never know when you need a burst of power to avoid a bad situation. That being said, Tesla Plaid models do have a Launch control function, designed to wring maximum power...

Oh yeah, huge shout out for BAF. We have the Haiku models (they didn't make the cool industrial ones in residential sizes when we did our remodel) and another cool thing is that they have thermostats and motion sensors in them. In our case, we are on a time of use meter so from 2-7pm, Monday...

Let me suggest that you are thinking about this in the wrong way. Scout did not set out to have a 3.5 second truck and spent money and engineering to achieve this. Instead, they figured out how much torque they needed to tow 10,000lbs. That amount of torque, when applied to an unladen truck...

    Rivian CEO Interview

@SpaceEVDriver pointed out the Casey's but Plugshare says that Loves also has 6 chargers "Coming Soon." So I think you are covered. Come on over to the dark side, we have cookies.

    Rivian Tire Swap Function

I agree with your suggestion of not using foam tires, but I quibble with your inferring that the EV companies are trying to cover up bad engineering that makes them noisy. The exact opposite is true. The droning and vibration of an ICE masks a ton of road and wind noise. When the ICE is...

I'm Ready for Another Big Announcement

Can't find it now but someone from Scout just posted that the Terra has an updated skin. Hopefully they will be able to show us that in the near future. Otherwise, I think they just have their heads down, trying to solve the 6,000 little problems that crop up and decisions to be made, build...

Yes but this is one of the fun things about EVs. The massive torque can be used for work and play. Take a giant diesel truck. That thing has massive amounts of torque. But because of the narrow power band of the engine, it is geared very low in order to tow. This means it has terrible...

It's not the weight, it's the number of battery cells and the maximum discharge rate of each cell. Once you hit that rate, the only way to get more power (current/amperage) is to add more cells. Fewer cells means less power (current/amperage), all else being equal.

What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

$175 for the Tesla ones and you can program them yourself. They used to include them with the higher end vehicles (S/X) but even stopped doing that a couple years ago. They claim that people weren't using them and were using their phones instead. Mine was one of the last that came with them...

What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

I think it depends on how often you lose power. The beauty of being able to use your truck as backup power is that you get other use it for productive things when the power is working normally. We lose power once or twice a year for a few hours. I would love to be able to power my house...

What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

With Tesla's, below a certain speed (like 2mph) if you lift your butt off the seat and the seatbelt is unplugged, the car will go into Park. So if you are one of those people that back up a truck to a trailer with the door open and one leg hanging out, it may not go well for you. I was one of...

What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

Having owned Teslas since 2010 (2010 Roadster, 2012 and 2018 Model S, 2022 Model X Plaid) I will gently push back on this. The Roadster had its charge port in the same place as the Lotus Elise's fuel port (just behind the driver's door). The first gen Model S was rear wheel drive so they chose...

Except that it does. I posted this in the other thread but Tesla lost a lawsuit because they advertised the max HP of the motors except that the battery pack could not supply enough current to produce those numbers. Further, when they debuted the v3 Roadster years ago, they needed a 200kWh...

They have had this as a service in the SF Bay Area for like 10 years (there's one in LA called Fuelster). A small fuel truck would fuel your car while you were at work. Doesn't seem to be any profit in it as the companies seem to come and go regularly. That and they seemed to get shut down...
