  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Running boards/Step rails-what’s everybody’s preference?

Hard to say without seeing the vehicle yet but in general, I like tube style more than running boards. I do hope they can use them to help disguise the thickness of the body side.

The Road to Scout Production - All the latest updates in one place...

Scout so far has the advantage of not having to deal with an existing dealer network. They can do direct sales like Tesla, start dealerships or use existing VW, Audi or even Porsche dealers but with whatever rules they want to establish. I followed the Ford Bronco struggle which the dealers made...

It's the Scouts who answer the call...

https://traton.com/en/newsroom/current-topics/navistar-the-history-of-the-mobility-company.html Here is a little IH history and how the Scout name ended up with TRATON which is part of Volkswagen Group. I was wrong above. Navistar didn’t buy IH, they ARE IH but sold off the IH brand. That’s...

It's the Scouts who answer the call...

I don’t think VAG bought the name to misappropriate history. They bought Navistar to merge with their heavy truck division (Traton?) and make more trucks. Navistar had bought the IH truck division when IH went bankrupt and kept making International trucks (semis). Navistar had owned all the IH...

It's the Scouts who answer the call...

Jamie posted it yesterday right here: https://scoutmotors.community.forum/threads/the-road-to-scout-production-all-the-latest-updates-in-one-place.342/post-5536 As for the rest, maybe, but Scout Motors is headquartered in the US and they are building a factory in the US to build them here by...

    Scout 800 4DR concept

A bit more modern (like a Scout II) would be perfect!

    Is EV demand really tanking?

EV range is negatively impacted by cold (especially if you use heat), heat, high speed, wet road and terrain. Best range is achieved on a flat, straight road going about 50 mph on a dry, 60-80 degree day. Anything out of those parameters will reduce range.

Should Scout adopt the NACS (Tesla) charging system

Good choice. Now, you need to make sure it works as close as possible to the Tesla experience. I just read this article. Even in a Tesla, road trips are a hassle compared to ICE once you have to go beyond the range of full charge. Not insurmountable, but a bigger hassle and the less hassle, the...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I don’t care what size the pickup is but I would like the SUV to be between a Scout II (100” wb) and a Traveler (118” wb) which would be about the size of the 4 door Wrangler and Bronco which both have 116” wheelbase.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Great suggestion! I wouldn't want "one pedal driving" level regen every time I lift my foot off the gas when driving on the road but I might if I was off-road. It would be a nice feature to have a choice of regen level when off the gas (accelerator I guess, not "gas"). Level 1-5 would be...

    Autoevolution Article

That was my thought at first but I think AI would have congealed enough info to know it wouldn’t have VW on the front from all the press releases about Scout Motors and be closer to the official releases

    A Christmas Teaser suggestion

That's the view that gives me hope.

    Is EV demand really tanking?

Why not? I love Walmart. Almost always the best price and good selection of oil, filters and other auto stuff. Park in the back by the auto center and check out at the auto service desk - you're in and out quick. You don't even have to be buying auto stuff.

I know that's not an official render but if it looks anything like that, count me out.

    Is EV demand really tanking?

I think inventory of all vehicles is stacking up (back to pre-pandemic norm). Dealer lots that were empty 2 years ago have cars again. Some is supply catching up, some is higher interest rates/economic cool down. Don’t know what inventory charts of non-EVs look like but may be similar. Also...

    Holiday lights

I think an outlet in the frunk or bed would work for that. Christmas light cord is thin enough to not mess with the weather seal. I would like 110V AC (wall style) outlets in the frunk AND in the bed area please!
