  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

I would find a home charger credit the most useful but maybe offer “points” that could be used for a home level 2 install or DC charging or merch or…? Some people don’t need a home charger or can’t get one because they live in an apartment or condo.

You should start using a dime and tell your kids it’s because of inflation.

    SUV Reveal questions-pregame

If SM is opening reservations after the reveal event, I assume they’ll be announcing how Scouts will be sold (direct or dealer). I’d also like to know how they’ll be serviced.

    Welcome and Introductions!

This is definitely something to worry about as a consumer. My own anecdote is going to a Cadillac dealership in Longview, TX for a CEL. They had ONE mechanic who worked on EV/ PHEV. My issue was just some bad gas but I talked to him awhile and he told me there were others trained on EVs but that...

    Navistar rebrands to International Motors

I think it would have been far less confusing (and richer in heritage) if Scout Motors had instead been called International Motors and the SUV vehicle called a Scout- the International Scout. That would have been a much clearer and stronger tie to the originals. My 1978 Scout says...

    SUV Reveal questions-pregame

I guess all those posts paid off. If you’re allowed to take pictures, I just want to know what it looks like from multiple angles and how much of the roof comes off. Thanks!

    Volkswagen Dealerships

I wouldn’t mind going to a VW dealership ( or Audi or Porsche) for service but I would way prefer direct sales to purchase.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I hope not. Too much slab, not enough glass and worst of all, doesn’t look like the roof would come off.

    Vehicle locking

I’m sure this won’t happen but I would like to be able to lock the fob in a secure console or glovebox and lock the doors with a normal, non-electronic key. When I go to the beach or lake, I hate having to worry about getting the fob wet with a modern car. I hate going in the water hoping I...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

At this point in development, the decision on a removable top has already been made if they’re going to reveal it this year but I will always believe that if the top doesn’t come off, it won’t be a Scout. It might be a perfectly acceptable SUV, like dozens of other vehicles already on the...

I would rather be driving my Scout!

I agree it looks great as is but I understand the desire to make your favorite truck better.

The Road to Scout Production - All the latest updates in one place...

Nice...but I would much rather see what a new Scout looks like than what a new Scout Factory looks like.

The Key EV Tech I'm looking for in Scout Vehicles

I'm down for Lithium Iron battery chemistry for the safety aspect. Routine charging to 100% is a bonus. I get that 300mi range seems to be a magical marketing number but I just don't NEED that much. Sure, more range is better but I really expect this to sell as a "lifestyle" vehicle. It will...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

Do those Bronco and Wrangler lengths include the spare tire?

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I guess we’ll see later this summer but I’ll stick with my guess of Bronco/wrangler size. If it’s a full-size SUV, it won’t be anywhere near the stated price target. Who says the SUV and truck will have the same platform? Even if they do, it doesn’t mean they’ll be the same size vehicle...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I feel pretty confident it will not be Yukon-ish. My guess is it will be Bronco/Wrangler size. My hope is that it will be like a slightly shorter, 4-door Traveller.

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

    Sorry to EV-splain you
  20. Bodie

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

The benefit of regen is using generators to slow the car while putting energy back into the battery pack instead of friction brakes that just produce heat. This extends the electric range of the vehicle. Engine braking (downshifting) is more efficient than friction brakes by saving a tiny bit of...
