  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Gas Powered Range Extender

Ooh yeah, Wankles make great power for their size. I used to have an RX-7 and that engine was TI-NY 1.3L. I remember it being like a little bigger than a basketball.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

J Alynn, If that is the excuse they used for no removeable top, I am throwing BS flags right and left. If I can remove and replace the one-piece steel travel top on my '78 Scout BY MYSELF without damaging the roof or the vehicle, then I can manage. Even if I couldn't, removing the top is...

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

I won't be surprised if there is a "surprise" option for a 3rd row. It certainly seems long enough. Even if it's only for children, it seems like a no brainer to offer it as an option. I'd get it if it removed easily.

    Pop open rearmost window

The far back window on the Traveler should be one of these on each side. These improve interior airflow/comfort when you have the windows/Cabana top open just like these @chucchinchilla has on this sweet microbus. I would prefer manual latches but they can be powered.

    Converting from J1772 to NACS

Honestly, just wait 2 years (at least) and look then. Why spend money now on something to sit in a box for years? Scout may even include one with purchase.

Optional full hard top for rack/camping/overlanding

I saw a picture on the SM site of the Traveler with a full rack and the cabana open. It looks like the rack mounts outboard of the cabana track. Also read that a full steel top (no opening) will be available.

    Dimensions

You may be correct but I would think the brakes could be smaller because a lot of the braking is regenerative. I hope it can have 17” wheels fit.

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

I amend my above statement about cost. I have never used a level 3 charger. My experience with level 2 public charging is that unless it is free, every charger I have ever seen costs much more than gas for an equivalent # of miles in my vehicle.

    Sliding Glass Pano Roof?

I’ll take whatever creates the biggest opening but with an equal size opening, I’d rather have glass than fabric.

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

This is why I’m all in on the Harvester. I’ll be all electric around town and never worry about finding/using a charger away from home. Public charging usually costs more than gas too. So glad there’s a generator option.

    SUV Reveal questions-pregame

Jamie also stated in the “Dimensions” thread that the website width is incorrect. Actual width without mirrors is 79.9”. Don’t know how 91.6” got listed but my size concerns are assuaged.

    Battery tech

To be honest, I don’t want to be the first buyer of any new tech (especially from Stellantis!). I’m more than willing to give up a little performance/range for reliability.

    Battery tech

https://electrek.co/2024/10/23/dodge-charger-ev-getting-solid-state-batteries-2026/ If a Dodge Charger can get solid state batteries, maybe Scouts can.

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

Bumping so people see it. I find this poll way more useful than the thread to post what you got.

    Dimensions

Also the length, is that with or without the spare tire? Most manufacturers don't include the spare in the length measurement.

    Operating Temps

Nearly all EVs have battery conditioning to maintain correct temperature of the batteries. You lose range in cold (or heat) because the conditioning system is taking power from the car's battery to heat (or cool) the battery pack.

    SUV Reveal questions-pregame

"Looking smaller" than they are is great for aesthetics but the reality of garages and parking lots only cares about actual size. My standard 2 car garage has an opening 16'/192" wide. If the posted dimensions are correct and the Traveler is 91.6" wide, then 2 will not fit in a 2-car garage...
