  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

Me too. Honestly if Scout becomes untenable because of bad economic decisions by the US I might end up with an EV9 instead.

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

The Koreans make good stuff, and we have free trade with them.

    Scout Supply Merchandise Live

Yep. But at least the Scouts are still three or four years away so there's time for things to return to sanity.

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

Oh I'm not holding my breath but I might have to buy a Chinese EV or even the Jeep Recon (assuming it's made in Canada) instead if this nonsense continues! That would be very unfortunate. Maybe the Koreans will make something interesting I could buy instead. They've been doing good stuff...

    Scout Supply Merchandise Live

I'd love to order a patch but we're still boycotting US goods here. Sorry. Maybe one day when things go back to being sane I'll order a patch for my Scouter blanket. Hopefully that time will come back soon.

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

I'm hoping Scout opens a factory in Mexico and then uses that factory to export to Canada so that we won't have to pay tariffs on them. We still have free trade with Mexico because they still honour CUSMA (aka NAFTA). 🙃

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

Well the batteries are expected to be made in Canada so right there we know we know won't be 100% US made. It's pretty unrealistic to expect the vehicles to contain only 100% US components and measuring country of origin is a difficult task. North America has a very integrated automotive...

    Resale Value/Depreciation

All EV's have a minimum 8 year / 160,000km (100,000 mi) powertrain warranty so they'll all have that as a minimum. If Scout wanted to go above and beyond that though I wouldn't complain!

    Reservations from Canada

I already own a good EV (Hyundai Ioniq 5) and do a lot of road trips with it since its our only car. I've ordered the EV Traveler. Charging in Ontario is fine and Quebec is even better! Sure charging infrastructure and can always be improved, and it will. I have no trouble going wherever I want...

    Resale Value/Depreciation

A few comments on supposed "rapid depreciation" of EVs. If you actually look into the data what you'll find is that depreciation is highly dependent on the specific vehicle model. Unfortunately for the industry the majority of EVs are Teslas and because of the way Tesla prices it's vehicles, or...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

My Ioniq 5 has a physical backup key which allows you to open the driver's side door via a conventional keyhole in the event of a dead 12V. Once inside you just pop the hood (physical latch like conventional cars) an the 12V is next to the frunk. So you can just boost it like a normal car if you...

Will Scout Work With Future 3rd Party Battery Retrofit/Replacement Companies? (Right to Repair)

Battery replacements probably won't be a thing for the Scouts. EV batteries typically outlast the vehicles they're put into so I don't expect there will be much of a market for it when it comes to Scout or other long range EVs. The reason there are replacement packs for cars like the Nissan Leaf...

Have you heard of Badgemagic?! It doesn't work on blankets but it sure does work on clothes! https://www.scoutshop.ca/products/new-badge-magic-scout-pre-cut?variant=32223118753930

Should There Be an EV "Tax Penalty"?

Sorry to hear you guys are so backwards down there 😜 We pay for our roads here in Canada from our general tax revenue at the provincial and municipal levels, just like how we pay for our universal healthcare system. No user fees or anything, no billing department needed! Weirdly - and I know...

    Duck, Duck......Scout?

I agree. And patches might not be $0.50 but they don't need to be expensive either. They can be had for a couple bucks apiece usually. I was thinking they could be left until a windshield wiper so they don't blow away. But where to put them? Personally I like the simplicity of velcro but we'd...

    Duck, Duck......Scout?

I've been thinking about this for a while now, not sure why? I think it's because I keep seeing Jeeps with ducks in them... Anyway I was thinking what Scout could do that would be similarly fun and community-building is make either stickers or embroidered patches and sell them on the store...

    Self-driving integration with Open Pilot.

I think the first thing to appreciate in order to understand why I think FSD is mostly BS is that AI's aren't all that smart. Wow, I know that was a lot of initialisms but bear with me. In order for a Full-Self Driving system to work as Elon and his weirdo followers keep insisting it will, we...

    Self-driving integration with Open Pilot.

Given that "Full FSD" remains a pipe-dream even for Tesla I don't think SM needs to waste time or resources pursuing that mirage. Even companies like Waymo that have working autonomous cabs driving around only do so in very specific areas and even then they still struggle with basic problems...

My Hyundai Ioniq 5 does this and so did my old ghetto-sled Leaf.
