  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

Yeah, I have no interest in getting a combustion engine. Maybe they'll put a final assembly line down there too just for export to Canada and Mexico?

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

"Millions"? Yeah that's a myth. It's not even one million. House cats, power lines, farming, cars, and windows kill WAY more birds than windmills. I know it's a common talking point by the oil industry lobby but it's misinformation and objectively incorrect. If bird deaths are a real concern...

What do you all do? Curious about Scout buyers occupations, or former occupations.

I'm a former Canadian infantry solider, pilot, and current public servant doing statistics. I also volunteer as the VP of an electric vehicle council and I'm a Scout Leader.

Terra questions about tires and payload

I can't speak to most of what you're asking but I can speak to the last question about the battery. @SpaceEVDriver is very knowledgable and correct, the batteries are fully recyclable already (yields are upwards of 95% currently) and more importantly battery recycling is already cheaper than...

All EV/BEV needs its own name!

I think Scout has got it right. The default is all electric so no special name needed. If you want to be weird and burn fossils for some reason like a cave man then they have a special "Harvester" version for you. ;) This is the way.

All EV/BEV needs its own name!

I came here to post this as well. Totally agree. Hard pass on the Edison name.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Heat pumps are the way to go. My EV has a heat pump and it's super efficient and works well in the winter. It does have a resistive PTC heater as a backup for the super cold days but generally the heat pump does most of the heavy lifting. I expect Scout will use a similar heatpump with PTC as a...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Turns out the Slate is moot for me since they won't sell to Canada for some reason. Oh well. Maybe our new government next week will remove the tariffs on Chinese EVs since the US has decided to ignore our long-standing free trade agreement. Might be a good time to make new more reliable...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

It's only RWD. I like the idea and it is more of the kind of vehicle I'm looking for. A basic, inexpensive, rugged, repairable EV. I just wish it had dual motor AWD and four doors. I'm also concerned about the crashworthiness. I don't see how the rear seats or passenger have airbags. I'm...

    Hey Lady Scouts!!

Only if it leaks. It shouldn't be leaking though, it's supposed to be a sealed unit. If it leaks when in use then it's a problem that needs to be fixed.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I would say no, probably not worth it. They did it (the person I was chatting with has been retired for a while so admittedly his information is likely a bit out of date) because as SpaceEVDriver said, you can't just bring a spacecraft in for repairs, you need to guarantee it will work. I don't...

    Hey Lady Scouts!!

Wow, neither of those scenarios ever occurred to me when the kids were little, I would just unload the groceries and then put the kid in the car because that seemed the easier order for me to do things in. The idea of our car being stolen in the grocery store parking lot while I'm right there...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Others have left excellent comments about maintaining battery health, the one thing I'd add is that while it's a good idea to keep the battery between 20-80% for daily use, it is necessary to charge to 100% some of the time to balance the battery cells. Hyundai recommends I charge my Ioniq 5 to...

    Delivery date

I love your optimism but I'm not going to hold my breath. 2028 for first deliveries and I'm sticking to it!

    Hey Lady Scouts!!

I know there's at least one EV that has a little embossed thing in the frunk that shows you what fits in it. The size in cubic feet or cubic litres isn't all that helpful, I agree. Since frunks tend to be just a little more hassle to get into than a trunk I usually keep stuff that's nice to have...

    Hey Lady Scouts!!

As a dad to smaller kids I agree! My kids love putting their feet on the backs of seats, and their feet are always muddy somehow. This is a great idea, good observation!

    Delivery date

They've said production "starts" in 2027, I think Scott even said "late 2027" in one of his interviews I watched so I wouldn't expect it to actually start arriving in driveways until 2028 at the earliest. These things usually run into delays and setbacks and it takes time to ramp up factories...

    Gear ratios

I think a very important thing to understand first is that electric drivetrains don't really have gears as most people understand them. EVs tend to have a single reduction gear and that's it. This is because unlike combustion engines that have very narrow power bands, electric motors have 100%...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Pretty much yeah. It's more like going from an iPhone 13 to an iPhone 16 in that you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. To give a real world example, my car - a 2022 Ioniq 5 has a 77.4 kWh battery. This year Hyundai did a "mid-cycle refresh" to add all the accumulated improvements...
