  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The BMW i3 has a small generator. For the Scout, a 1.5 L is probably still a bit too small to maintain state of charge indefinitely during normal driving. But even if it could, it definitely couldn’t fit in the available space. We’re more or less talking about the space where a 35in spare tire...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

That’s what they said and what I said. Specifically I estimated 15% smaller, they are just making room for a gas tank, 10 gallons of which should be more than enough.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

They don’t have to work that way and it is impossible based on what Scout showed us - a picture of a tiny little engine under the floor of the rear storage space/truck bed. Nothing that small can provide “all or most” of the driving power. Vehicles that do, have a full sized engine in an engine...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I think we just need to follow all the data points and statements that Scout have given us, rather than project our own wishes. 1) Full sized battery version has estimated range of 350 miles 2) For the Harvester version they “make the battery a little bit smaller, fill that space with a gas...

    Gas Powered Range Extender

Scout showed what they expect the Harvester to look like. It’s obviously not a 3.6 l V6. It’s tiny. Tucked under the floor of the rear cargo space. So the balance between battery and gas in the Scout must lean heavily toward battery. The little gas engine will significantly extend the range but...

T-Shirt idea for when the community store next opens: I’d like a Harvester t-shirt It should have a graphic of the field being harvested by a combine, similar to what we see on the gas cap and the word Harvester below. Design could have a single color print. Black or white depending on base...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

I think this is correct. We are told it will get 150 miles pure Ev at that point the extender will normally kick in but we don’t know what the battery percentage will be. To get the full 500 miles we’ll almost certainly need the Harvester running right away. I don’t conclude the RE “defeats...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The battery and motors can already deliver the power to go 0-60 very fast. I can’t think of a scenario where we’d need to have the Harvester output on top of what’s already there. If Scout did have a launch mode like Tesla and Rivian it should have a physical button to activate it and that...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Until the battery is basically empty it can provide all the power you need just as with any other EV. But don’t expect the little Havester to maintain the battery forever, it just makes the battery last longer. Most users will probably only need the Harvester a few times a year because the pure...

    Scout Supply Merchandise Live

There’s a lot of new members here that might not know there is a Scout company merch store. Link up above. There was also a Community Store for a short time during the summer, maybe that’s come back again at some point?

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

In the space available under the rear floor this is impossible. Scout showed us concept pictures of the harvester and it is very small. It’s just slowing down the rate at which the battery is depleted. We’re not going to have unlimited range at highway speeds so long as we keep stopping for...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The Harvester won’t provide any acceleration. That’s provided by the electric motors, which provide all the acceleration you could possibly need and more. The Harvester is a generator, it turns at a constant speed, so it does not need to keep changing acceleration like a gas engine driving a...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

I imagine the Harvester will get a snorkel to maintain the 3ft wading capability. I’m not sure if skid plates are going to be optional extras but since the Harvester is tucked in behind the rear skid plate that skid plate may be necessary on Harvester version. Also since the Harvester takes up...

Spare tire carrier - other locations?

The Harvester might also force the spare carrier.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The generator won’t do anything to add performance. That’s all the electric motors. The generator just adds charge to the battery and it doesn’t matter if the battery is at 100% charge or 10% the electric motors will perform the same. The generator is just going to slow down the rate the...

How will service be offered for Scout Vehicles?

Here’s a slide from the reveal event. We can expect brick & mortar service centers with in-driveway flexibility.

Jerry Cans + Harvester Range Extender

5 gallons of gasoline weighs about 30 lbs. Gasoline has an energy density about 75 times higher than a lithium ion battery. So if you have a battery with the same amount of energy as 5 gallons of gas it would weigh about 375 lbs! However, burning gas to turn an alternator to charge a battery to...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

There could be a carbon-monoxide sensor that turns off the Harvester if it’s detected. Or the vehicle can ask the user to confirm the vehicle is in a well ventilated area (and not close to an open window) before turning on the generator. People tend to be well aware of not running an engine in a...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

If the Harvester is providing 75% of energy on the 500 mile trip, it’s a big engine, almost full sized and will need its own engine bay. If Scout are showing a small engine the battery must still be quite large. Scout said it’s “a little bit smaller” to make room for the gas tank. With my rough...
