  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Former Rivian R1S owner, almost twice. Can’t wait for the Scout

It sucks to get a lemon and have very little recourse. I'm sorry that happened to you. The issue with your entry to the forum that I noticed was that you came in with your first two posts saying you didn't want something that is already confirmed as a fundamental part of the accelerated...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I mean to add: I have owned hybrids for years and years. I think they serve a purpose and it’s a good purpose. I hope people find the right vehicle for them and the Harvester will meet the needs of many people. I do think there are a lot of myths about BEVs that aren’t true or their specific...

My foot is entirely in the camp of I don’t see how I can afford a Scout upon release because of all that’s going on. But if/when we can afford one, it’ll be BEV because I have my own preferences and experiences that make me confident the BEV Traveler would be a fantastic vehicle for us. And I...

I don’t have any idea. Could make some guesses, but they would just be guesses. Whatever their hoped-for number, expect quite a bit fewer as they work out the kinks of actually building and producing the vehicles.

I would opt for air suspension if its cost wasn’t too high. Heck, with a modern-day pickup (including the Terra), just being able to drop the bed height by a few inches from “normal” would be great.

I’ve never understood the problem people have with what someone else does (safely) with their own vehicle. If someone wants to drive their Prius off-road and they do it safely without impacting others…why the haters? If someone wants to drive their Jeep as a pavement-only vehicle, and they’re...

The One-Ton Problem with Scout’s Harvester Range Extender

I haven’t look up the statistics of standard vs long vs max range take rates. There’s a well-known, long-standing phenomenon where auto buyers will demand various features and then won’t buy them. My guess is that the middle range battery is most popular, but I don’t have data to support that...

The One-Ton Problem with Scout’s Harvester Range Extender

It'll be exclusive because the R&D will need to be paid for, production will need to be ramped up, and demand will be high. SSB prices will be high for a few years, at least.

Just for fun. This is what the Scout BEV is going to be able to do.

I was joking about the "how we hate dealers" comment.

Motors, Control Arms and Ground Clearance

Most full-sized BEV SUVs and trucks will ride quite differently from a 4Runner, Bronco, or Jeep. The center of gravity is much lower (the main single mass is between the wheels, not above the front wheels). Roll isn’t nearly as dramatic in the Lightning as compared with similar full-sized...

Taking bets on the new color of the Traveler Concept to be seen soon...

I experienced it with my first Tacoma. They would not order one for me, so I ended up with silver, which I disliked immensely. Fortunately I spent more time in it than looking at it.

If I had the time and skills, I would definitely replace the oh-so-boring grey of my Lightning with something like this. I’m sooooooo bored of cars being white, black, or one of 7320 grays. And I’m not convinced it’s because costumers want grey. I believe it’s because dealers want grey because...

Motors, Control Arms and Ground Clearance

Yeah, they don’t do a good job of describing their system. I think you’re right. Generally you want an incompressible, non-newtonian, visco-elastic fluid for the dampener, which air is not so good at, but hydraulic fluids of certain compositions are great at. I had assumed they were working some...

Motors, Control Arms and Ground Clearance

There are other accessibility concerns, that was just an example. My 78-yr-old aunt might need kneel mode to get into my vehicle. Not in a wheelchair, but does have significantly limited mobility. That's the main thing I have in mind right now. May be other reasons that aren't related to...

Motors, Control Arms and Ground Clearance

It depends if you have any reasonable expectation that you'll need a wheelchair in your future. Airbags with a kneel mode have been found to be incredibly helpful to people who need a wheelchair for mobility but not necessarily for riding/driving in the vehicle.

With ADHD, I get bored with the slow speaking and relative rambling in videos. Even when text rambles, I can skim it and get back to the informative parts more quickly. And more importantly, I don't retain much on the first pass. Having the text allows me to search and find the parts that are...
