  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

The struggle is real. Fortunately I’m the only one in my office these days, so I only have my own crap to deal with. But a lot of the things I have came from similar boxes.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

This may seem minor to some: I just took a truckload of old electronics to the hazardous waste recycling center. I had some hard drives from the mid 1990s in there; some desktop and laptop computers from the early 2000s; a TV I was going to repair but then realized I was never going to get...

Scout Traveler and Terra Photo Collections and Wallpapers

I like the usefulness of the rack. I’m far more about function than form. I usually have some kind of rack on my trucks. Half the time it’s a home-built deal specific to the needs of the day. I hope the Scout Motors rack comes with t-tracks throughout so its usefulness is only limited by the...

Im more of a 37" tire guy, are we going to need a lift kit or will these squeeze in?

I’m considering for my Lightning going to 32s for three seasons and keeping the 33s for winter. If I were to start doing more trail driving with the Lightning, I might get a set of wheels and tires specifically for that. But the most I’ll likely ever do in it is forest service roads and very...

Federal law currently still protects consumers from most anti-warranty claims involving 3rd party add-ons or customization. The Comma thing is weird for me, though. I’m 100% for Open and Free software and hardware. But I don’t trust an ADAS system that has only 90 million miles of learning...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I have answers. ;) :P Maybe the answer will match the question. The Lightning has Sport Mode. Note that because the truck is drive-by-wire, the response rate and feel of the steering can be adjusted by changing the in-steering motor feedback torque and rate. Such an adjustment wouldn’t be...

It’s always been an accelerator to me. “Punch it” or “Engage” or “Take us out of here, Mr. Sulu, warp factor four," sounds so much better to me.

Im more of a 37" tire guy, are we going to need a lift kit or will these squeeze in?

That’s part of the point, though. Right? Jeep’s Wrangler generations are 10+ years long. The JK was introduced in 2006, the JL in 2017—and that’s the generation we’re still on. The difference between a JK and a JL are minimal when it comes to many aftermarket parts. Their widths are basically...

Stellantis is in a lot of trouble and seems to be retreating to a dying technology. https://electrek.co/2025/09/04/after-abandoning-evs-autonomy-and-hydrogen-whats-next-for-stellantis/

Im more of a 37" tire guy, are we going to need a lift kit or will these squeeze in?

This will take time, and probably investment by Scout, to accomplish. One of the reasons I would rather see Scout not invest in aftermarket development to sell parts itself is so that the aftermarket can start to thrive as soon as possible. Competing against the manufacturer is always more...

I think you meant silence, but I agree with the statement as written too. :)

Im more of a 37" tire guy, are we going to need a lift kit or will these squeeze in?

I don’t mean to say all of the sales differences are because of the aftermarket. There’s also a reputation component and a resale value component. But when I was looking for a recent replacement of our Tundra, I looked at the four big-brand mid-sized pickups: Chevy Colorado, Ford Ranger, Toyota...

Im more of a 37" tire guy, are we going to need a lift kit or will these squeeze in?

I’m similarly doubtful there will be any useful information to be gleaned. However, there can be significant appearance/stance changes when suspension and linkage change. It’s unlikely—but on the off chance they changed anything, it would be interesting to see.

Im more of a 37" tire guy, are we going to need a lift kit or will these squeeze in?

You can see this is the difference in sales between the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma. Objectively the vehicles are very comparable in capabilities, but the Tacoma aftermarket is many, many times bigger than the Frontier aftermarket. And the 4Runner + Tacoma compatibility in aftermarket is...

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

Yes, there are many, many issues of safety with what they’re doing. And their claims are also dubious. They claim to be charging by running a J1772 charge plug to the charge port on the front driver’s side of the vehicle. I have assumed they’ve been gaffer taping the cord along the windshield...

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

After so long driving only EVs, you couldn’t pay me enough to listen to the drone of an ICE engine—and especially not a gas/diesel generator—while driving or camping.

Im more of a 37" tire guy, are we going to need a lift kit or will these squeeze in?

I think we can assume there will be a strong base to start with. Scout has a lot of experienced people working on the engineering to meet its target audience’s expectations. The main question in my mind will be whether Scout decides to use common specifications so customization is easy from...
