  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

I have been the auto mechanic (and IT support and carpenter and electrician and…) for my friends and family for so very long. But these days we’re far more dispersed so they call me for advice instead of direct work. Of all the automotive work I don’t have to do anymore, brakes, oil changes...

Taking bets on the new color of the Traveler Concept to be seen soon...

You know the rules. Pics or it didn’t happen.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Interesting. We already have an induction cooktop for camping, but I might have considered that if it were available when I was looking. Mostly for the integrated case. Since we have the frunk outlets, we're not too concerned about being battery operated (it might be nice in several use cases).

    33 Months of EV driving...

I don't often need a high charge rate, even in the Lightning, even when road tripping. But that 246 kW sure does make me hope for Scout. I hope Scout takes a non-risky risk and bumps up both its peak and its average charge rates to well above industry standard. You all have the opportunity to...

    33 Months of EV driving...

My chargers remind me at 21:00 every night if my cars aren't plugged in. But like @Jamie@ScoutMotors said, it's so routine now that I don't even get those reminders anymore.

Make it easy to precool your Scout and create routines (Mobile Integration)

I often run down to Phoenix or Tucson or out to the AZ/CA border where temperatures run into the 120+ F. Preconditioning after the car was sitting in the sun in 110-120 F for hours isn’t immediate, but it’s far, far better than the nothing I had before. I do have to open the app and tap the...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Haven't done a brake job in ages. Every few months I find a safe place, get up to speed and then brake hard so the friction brakes engage. That cleans off the fine layer of dust the brakes get from disuse. I don't expect to ever need to do a brake job again.

Scout Terra Debuts in New Silo Color and Retheme

But that’s only available if the roof rack is purchased. I don’t think I would buy the roof rack on the concepts. It feels too much like a top hat.

Maybe Scout should see if they can get permission to use the McCormick tartan as a special Founders Edition. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCormick_reaper

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I think you'll find top speed isn't anything too worrisome. It's the acceleration.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Hehe... I…um…might have hit the accelerator pretty hard a few times in the last few days. More than a few times. I usually drive it like a good kid. The nice thing is that you don’t have to drive it wildly. It does so many things well that driving it like a pickup is just as satisfying as...

Scout Terra Debuts in New Silo Color and Retheme

Happy to see the 2” hitch receiver. I know it’s a pretty mundane feature to some, but I don’t particularly like the idea of a beauty panel hiding one of the most useful features of my truck. That panel would just be another piece of plastic I need to dispose of.

    I hope that’s a 30-pack of La Croix—if I remember correctly, he’s been sober for a good, long time. ;)

You’re welcome. There’s too much out there to be embarrassed about asking for help finding something.

Scout Terra Debuts in New Silo Color and Retheme

They could, if they’ve already planned to include 37s, but if they hadn’t already planned for it, then they’d have to make changes now, which would be a costly set of change orders. And, even if they had the time to accommodate them, it would be a more expensive factory build, which distributes...

Scout Traveler and Terra Photo Collections and Wallpapers

As I understand it, the rack is still in “concept” phase, so it’s not clear if it will even be offered. I would imagine Thule and others will have a set of crossbars ready within a few months of production.

Scout Terra Debuts in New Silo Color and Retheme

Ford had to make expensive changes to its production line to accommodate the 37s. If the option is to have a very expensive upgrade to the production line or for a “prep” package where you go out and buy your own 37s and don’t have to make any changes to the vehicle, I’d suggest the latter.

Scout Terra Debuts in New Silo Color and Retheme

Yeah. I would imagine that if these are carried through to production, even with a disclaimer, someone’s going to cause themselves an expensive bit of damage. You can’t protect everyone from themselves.

The design throughline of things like the little shackle hole that match the hood, bull bar, etc. is cute and clever.

Scout Terra Debuts in New Silo Color and Retheme

Given that they’re LEDs, a clever thing to do would be to turn them white when in off-road mode and traveling slower than, say 25 mph. A bit of a side light while going down a forest service road would be fantastic.
