  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Good point. I didn't follow through to find the brand.

With Verizon’s outage today, I’m reading reports of people who were using their phone as a key being locked out of their vehicles… Yet another reason I refuse to have that single-point-of-failure for my vehicle.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

But it’s an objectively better screw with an objectively better driver. The real problem is that we still have PH screws and drivers at all. For brakes, the problem is that they don’t remove the screw once everything is mounted, centered, and known to be right at the factory. That screw isn’t...

I totally get that. I hope Scout’s reliability is very high and that they’ve studied and learned from both the successful and unsuccessful launches of the many EVs out there. And I hope they have some good data analysts on staff to understand when data are showing survivorship biases vs real...

Yeah, it’s not surprising. Their model is out-of-date and I’m glad I don’t have to interact with them anymore. I’ve even decided not to bother with a warranty repair at the dealer and will just do it myself. I save so much not going to the dealer two or three times a year already, so spending...

    Ford’s interval is 10 years, 150,000 miles.

    Offroad Navigation Integration for Scouts

It’s very useful. Unfortunately it’s not compatible with Android Auto or Car Play so cannot be projected onto the screen of vehicles with those built in. I don’t know what underlying OS or application layer Scout will be using, so I don’t know if they’ll be compatible.

I would really like to have access to something like Avenza. Avenza allows GeoPDFs, which means you can download maps such as (but not limited to) the Forest Service Motor Vehicle use Maps for the most up-to-date road access information. I use this extensively while doing field work, hunting...

    Must haves to purchase…

I’ve wondered about the bench seat before. Will it be a true one-piece bench with all the awkwardness that comes with it? I don’t think I would be able to sit in the front if my partner was driving and the bench was one-piece. I would have my knees crammed up into the dash. Or will it be a...

Ford’s Lightning Supertruck ran the Nürburgring in 06:43.482. And clearly had more available, but experienced some issues in the last 45 seconds or so. My guess is overheating.

And a massive amount of this is because some fools think it’s more important to stop one person from getting a little bit of help they might not need instead of making sure nobody is excluded from getting the help they do need. My opinion— for what it’s worth—is that whether they’re service...

Yep. And protectionist tariffs won’t keep those jobs nor will it protect the global-trade-dependent companies.

As far as I can remember, China’s ICE sales peaked in 2017. The US will follow suit, despite the weird attempts to slow down EV sales here.

We briefly discussed this before. The tipping point for a market’s replacement of ICEs with EVs is not when 50% of vehicles sold are BEVs, in the time period of interest. It’s when there are more EVs sold than the difference between new vehicles sold and old vehicles retired—because most...

No. Ford doesn't have a paid membership for charging. And paid memberships of other networks don't recognize the vehicle if you plug in and charge directly without using the networks' app. As a practical note: Nobody chooses to stop at a dealer to charge unless there's no other option. When...

I hope Scout is going to really beat on its test mules once they have pre-production capabilities. They really want to know which parts they need to have pre-order for repairs and which don’t need to be replaced very often. Do they need to have a bunch of CV boots/joints/shafts in stock? Do they...

The problem is that almost all modern new/start-up automotive manufacturers have faced “unusual” supply chain issues: from the pandemic to the current trade-killing tariffs… Genesis, the luxury spin-off from Hyundai, started in 2015 as its own brand. It sold ~400 cars in 2015 and ~58k in 2016...

And please make sure it’s at 100% state of charge. Several people have reported their EVs being delivered well below 100%, which is equivalent to having less than a full tank of gas in an ICE when you drive off the lot.
