  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

Also been pining for a solid roof, albeit for different reasons. We get hail too often for me to risk a glass roof. You did bring up something interesting though. Chassis twist is pretty normal when a vehicle is flexed out, but these will have a massive rigid battery pack in between the...

You didn’t misread anything. I was just thinking of the overall length with the carrier when I compared them. Also,

    Size comparison

I’m in a Chevy Tahoe this week for work, and it’s still nuts to me that the Traveler will be close to the same size! I was worried there wouldn’t be much space in the cargo area but we were able to stuff quite a bit in it today for this project. We had it full from floor to ceiling with two...

    Must haves to purchase…

If I win the lottery one of the first things I am doing is buying you a Scout. You have been a wealth of knowledge and I am kind of heartbroken to hear about your situation. I work at a University and we are seeing researchers losing funding, grants cancelled, and our president liquidated the...

Thats really weird. I live in rural East Texas and the only reason shops refused to work on VWs here is because they are a PITA and require special tools to do any work on them. But its never been because of politics. If people there are that ignorant, it doesnt matter what brand EV you buy.

My wife likes them because they always have clean restrooms, and at least 20 stalls with little to no wait.

The sales numbers tell me that the customers aren’t hating, they just aren’t interested in muscle cars that don’t make (real) muscle car sounds. That would be like In and Out switching to all soy patties and acting surprised when people stop buying them.

What are you driving until release?

I have had several Land Cruisers, Toyota 4x4s, and daily a GX470. The Scout will be my first EV. I think a lot of guys from the Toyota off-roading community will be on board after they see what the Scouts are capable of. Especially the overland folks with Tundras and Land Cruisers.

He was using it with a massive solar array they fabricated to charge up equipment on the Bonneville salt flats for land speed events.

I’m right there with you on full BEV vs Harvester. We have a lot of time to decide, but the more I listen to folks here that own BEVs the more chill I feel about forgoing the Harvester option.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Welcome. Feel free to search the sub about towing. It’s been discussed ad nauseam, but you may have some ideas that we haven’t considered yet.

They have come a long way since the “mini-van engine era”, but yeah…. they have their quirks. But I don’t even know who makes “reliable cars” anymore. Even Toyota and Lexus have fallen from grace in recent years.

@SpaceEVDriver for some reason I could see you having something like this.

Or you know…. We could just not have greedy and disgusting car dealerships anymore. That would bring those inflated prices down faster than anything else would.

Because its a rumor based on hints from RJ. No official announcement has been made at this time.

Well these are definitely not small Evs, and I dont think $60k is what most people consider "affordable". But I think Scout knows their target market cant really eat a $20k price hike.

Welcome. I think VWs $10B investment in Rivian and billions into Scout pushes this out of the vaporware category. A lot of EV startups fail because they run out of liquidity, and VW has plenty of cash and credit available to it to keep things on track.

I think that was already confirmed, but they had to change something about the seating so they won’t all lay flat anymore. I’m curious how that will shake out for people who planned to camp out of them.

Now that you mention AWD, I wonder if they will use different ratios front and rear? I know EVs dont use the rear motor after they reach certain speeds so they arent really AWD all the time. Makes me wonder what that will look like in the normal driving mode.
