  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

I’m hopeful Scout can deliver on this in a way that keeps insurance costs low—that alone could significantly boost adoption rates for these vehicles.

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

Just a quick note for Scout’s team regarding this post: EVs often come with higher insurance costs and tougher repair logistics than gas vehicles. And it’s not just Tesla—this applies across brands. For example, my Ford Lightning Platinum cost $526 (good) for six months of coverage, while my...

    Solar Tonneau option

I’m running a portable 1kW solar array and a Delta Pro Ultra I built for off-grid use. I’ve got a clear read on what appliances actually consume—fridges, HVAC, cooking gear, etc.—and I know panel efficiency is the real constraint. Those 100W foldables aren’t going to move the needle. But if a...

Then let the people who don’t want to upgrade… not upgrade. Solar panel efficiency may drop in cloudy conditions, but it’s still a valuable backup—especially alongside the onboard generator, which at best might function as a Level 2 charger. And by the way, it hasn’t even been confirmed whether...

    Solar Tonneau option

I will gladly pay more as a trim or a package for a vehicle that can charge itself by just sitting there and offset accessory.

    Solar Tonneau option

This is what separates a company like Tesla from the legacy manufacturers—they do things no one else does. Everyone else is just playing catch-up. Which brings me back to Scout: if they want to truly stand apart from other EV makers, they have a rare opportunity to do something no one else has...

    Solar Tonneau option

I get your point. I've watched a lot of videos with the people that are designing these vehicles and I know they have some smart people. I think they can either launch with a package or a trim for people who actually want it.

I totally respect that answer and agree that you got to start somewhere but even the 2010 Prius had solar panel built into the top to run accessory

    Solar Tonneau option

There’s definitely a factor in it. Tesla was supposed to be the first—with the Cybertruck—to offer an automatic solar tonneau cover, but then they bailed on it. But keep in mind, Tesla is also the one that wants you to always charge between 20% and 80%, and then you find out the vehicle doesn’t...

    Solar Tonneau option

The solution needs to be more than just a solar cover on a bed. It still needs integration into the vehicle's inverter and battery.

    Solar Tonneau option

They make a 1 kW option for the lightning if I remember correctly. Probably the easiest application would be to have some sort of solar charging receptacle inside the bed. But if they engineer it correctly, it would be natively transferring power through a series of metal connections I would imagine

Any plans for Scout to launch a tour soon so folks who haven’t seen the vehicles in person get a chance? We'd love to see you in OKC or Little Rock.

From a Tesla and Lightning Owner: Here’s What I Need to See from Scout

I forgot one of my favorite features from Tesla that I would like to see in Scout. Whenever traffic starts moving or green light, I get a nice calm chime. It's like what you hear on a plane. It makes you feel like you are piloting. Also, if you sit taller, it saves you from having to look. I...

    - Level 2+ Mobile Generator: Unlocking Full Harvester Potential

Oh no, I didn't take it that way, but you def need the megaphone on these with custom lock sounds and horn noises. I wish you could still do custom driving noises bc it would be a fart the whole way.
